90% of learning how to do something is learning what to do when you screw up. All TV shows and videos since the original home repair and woodworking TV shows have always made everything work the first time. I found that very frustrating because it always took me three times to get something right. So yes, show the mistakes. We learn from them.

Those tomatoes were gorgeous. I love this time of summer. Beefsteak tomato time. Time for my second favorite sandwich, the philly cheesesteak being the king of sandwiches. Its an open face sandwich and you take a big thick slice of sourdough bread, like from one of those round loaves of bread, two thick slices of Beefsteak tomatoes to cover the entire slice of bread, salt both sides of the tomatoes and let them sit for a while then use a paper towel to blot off the water pulled out by the salt. Makes the tomato much richer tasting. Grill or broil the tomatoes till they just start getting crispy on the edges while toasting both sides of the bread. Butter one side or use mayo if you must. Put the tomatoes on the bread, on top of that some grilled Canadian bacon, a good slice of ham or thick cut smoked bacon. Put it under broiler add cheese, my faves are provolone, baby swiss or smoked gouda. Serve with a simple green salad with more tomato and your favorite vinaigrette. Iced tea and a bloody mary are required but i no longer drink alcohol so I have cold glass of V8 with a splash of soy sauce and a nice dash of my favorite hot sauce. Damn. Im hungry again.

Gotta hay when you can, my son and I have just a little more to do and we'll be done for the year. I had the net wrap get around the roller next to the actuator, last year, and it caused my alignment to go out, so I had to have it serviced for re-alignment, which was by operator error, me! I certainly enjoyed watching, as I always do, thanks and have a good evening and a great week!

That new rake looks REAL good!! Got some good camera angles on it too. I think you did exceptionally well with the camera placement this time. Even better than usual, which is always dang good. I LIKE those different looks at how stuff works. As you were cutting that net wrap off I was thinking that the bales I bucked a century ago only had two rounds of twine to hold them together. I never had to mess with the wire bound ones. Thanks again Cole, great video, I enjoyed the heck out of it. Good health and blessings to everyone. Those melons and tomatoes sure looked delicious too.

Noticed the 2.5 gal. Water fire extinguisher mounted on the demo bailer and that you don’t have any on your bailer. Those water extinguishers are more effective on grass fires than the dry powder extinguishers you carry in the tractors. The added bonus is that you can refill them from a garden hose and pressurize with your shop air compressor. You just need to empty them in the winter or they freeze and break.

Is there a difference in how sweet the alfalfa is between first and second cuts? Where we deer hunt on private land, in Canada, a landowner said that he thinks there is a difference in "sweetness". The whitetail deer apparently turn up their noses at the first cut. Since the deer are not bothered by fences, they can eat where they want. Have you heard of that before?

Couple thoughts: Rake needs greased (was kinda like nails on a chalkboard, LOL). When working on impliments (like the baler) shut the tractor down. All it takes is a glitch and you could have been in the baler. As for speed of baling, my grandfather had a neighbor that could dump a 1900+lb bale was every 35 secs. They always had the latest equpiment. Couldn't tell you what model given this was 30 years ago while I was in HS. Meanwhile, I was running the baler that had put about a million bales up (NH 850 chain baler). It'd run enough bales through it the inner side sheet metal had holes worn through.

One of the most important things I learn from Cole is how important regular maintenance of machinery is. He is often greasing something or changing the oil or welding up a crack that could get worse and break, or even washing something. Same with the fencing. He and Brian are always upgrading it to stave off future problems. They are always looking ahead to make things better. That's how to run any business.

It might be a stupid content request, but if possible I'd love to see an explanation of the inner workings on how the baler picks up the hay and forms the bale with those belts. I also noticed you're not using the Z model baler you were demoing in the last video, why is that? The investment in the new camera is great, Cole. Thanks. Huge improvement especially with the audio.
@zak2u2
@zak2u2 Жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing about the baler. I did wonder about the new one though as it didn't have the function to hold three bales until you were at a central position to drop them so you didn't have to run all over the field to pick bales up. That is an extremely time saving feature.

Another great video Cole. What happened to the new baler that you had on demo for the rest of the year. I suppose there was no device on the rear of the new baler to carry bales but its good to see that you got some more feed for the winter. There's a wee small field in front of our house and first cutting they baled 13 bales per acre but then we live in Northern Ireland where we have plenty of rain. Stay safe Cole and keep the video's coming.....cheers

Orchestra music (movie score) is some of the best there is! Check out "one day pirates of the caribbean" 3. John Deere needs a different "bale ready" notification beep. That thing is annoyingly loud.
