Do you know which size of shrink wrap is best for this hdmi cable?
@SceneByScott7 жыл бұрын
These cables work great with my GH4 on a DJI Ronin-M gimbal and external monitor. I haven't done the shrink wrap yet but the cables worked well. The downside is that when carrying my gimbal/camera rig powered off, the camera can spin with normal walking and my ribbon cable bent a bit and became useless. So, always bring two ribbon cables to a shoot.

Will this cable work with the A7sii? Thanks! I'm having a hard time finding one that works and still allows me to run 4k as well as connect to my gimbal.
@ryanstark23506 жыл бұрын
Brett Anthony Bryant This is what I was thinking. The problem on the A7SII is that the socket is the other way around so the cable would be angled to the front but I think the design of the A7SII to the front of the socket might block you from inserting that right angled plug in completely. Did you sort out any cable? I need one now and finding the ideal cable seems ridiculously difficult.
@ryanstark23506 жыл бұрын
Brett Anthony Bryant I just saw that you can get these cables with the plug orientated a different way so it should work on the A7SII.

Still a really big fan of these. You can actually just get the individual ribbons/connectors with fliplatches and put them together yourself. I don't bother sealing them as it makes it really easy to build/disassemble super specific cables for specific rigs.

A little tip for Gh5 users. If you can’t view your file go to TV connection in the menus and switch from auto to 1080. Took me a while to figure that one out. But these are not 4K output HDMIs. They are a must have for gimbal external monitor users.
@joekrupnik17103 жыл бұрын
I totally get that these cables are great for short runs. Thanks. What about signal quality? HDMI cables usually have at least 4 shielded twisted pairs which are twisted for noise shielding and signal quality (like network cables). These ribbon cables seem to have all conductors running in parallel, which eliminates the benefits of the cable twist and may limit the signal quality. Do you have any advice on signal and length limits? Thanks.

Hi. I just spoke to a guy at Arielpixels and he told me those ribbon cables were not designed to be twisted. He said a U-Bend is fine but no twist. So are you twisting them and if so can you confirm that you've had no problems? My main issue is the exit profile of the mini HDMI from the DSLR with a Zacuto recoil config. If it extrudes to far, the cable sits in my cheek (face).
@dslrvideoshooter8 жыл бұрын
I've twisted mine a ton and it is fine. That said, They twist is VERY gradual and over the entire length. I wouldn't twist it tightly or crease the cable.
@whatsonmytable Жыл бұрын

@DriftFilmsco8 жыл бұрын
This is awesome Caleb thanks! Safer and more versatile than the swivel type connection too. I have a Dell monitor I'd like to use in a studio for interview shoots, it lacks a HDMI port, however it has a DisplayPort. I want to use it with my G7, so can I simply attach a microhdmi to hdmi adapter on the G7 and then attach to the adapter a hdmi to DisplayPort cable? Just makes more sense to me to use my existing dell monitor which is colour accurate and a decent size at 21" rather than buy an actual dedicated video monitor like an Aperture or SmallHD which are expensive and small. Would love your advice if you have any experience regarding this mate. I've used an iPad with the G7 but the Panasonic image app doesn't allow full screen previews and the wifi kills battery on long shoots. I only want to preview the image blown up on a screen, not interested in controlling the camera using the app or using the features of a dedicated video monitor. Cheers, Joel.

an even easier although not as versatile solution is using a spiral HDMI to HDMI mini cable with a right angle at the mini end. The spiral part absorbs most small movements of the monitor and prevents a lot of yanking.

Hey Caleb! I see you have the Vizelex Auto ND adapter... I was looking at that one... I wanted to ask you how do you think it performs? The downside is that you do not have a "no-nd" setting right? Minimum is 1 stop loss? Is it too bad on the a6300 to lose that extra stop or so? (also planning on purchasing that camera) Thank you so much in advance, hope everything is going super for you!!
@dslrvideoshooter8 жыл бұрын
The adapter rocks my socks off. But like you said, there is no "0" ND. For most cameras this would be a slight problem, but since the a6300 is so good in low light it doesn't bother me one bit. I've left the adapter on for days without issue.
