Your copper wire reminds me of a similar process we used in a 1000cc hillman imp engine which were called Wills rings. They are complete hollow ring which was filled with a gas at pressure. They were inletted into the cylinder head around each of the combustion chambers with less than half proud. They sealed the combustion side of the engine but a gasket was used for the oil and water. I enjoy watching your meticulous builds and strip downs on a quite complicated engine ( compared to our hillman imps anyway )

Vince of Prime for motor assembly, 5th gear for tuning is my thoughts. Engine builder can be anywhere really, I was more worried about getting the right tuner. If you've got some recommendations, I'm all for looking into reputable builders.

We used to hand make head gaskets out of sheet copper on racing snowmobiles because they wouldnt blow out at higher compressions. We also shaved the heads to increase head compression. When doing that, we also installed billet piston rods. It was nothing to bust a crank at the PTO however. Nothing like watching the primary clutch blow through the engine cowling! Those were the days!

The groove, and copper ring, is commonly referred to as an O-Ringed block. Very common mod done to forced induction (and in some cases) naturally aspirated performance engines (Gas and Diesel).

Idk much about the machines but I know you can install loaded pistons by hand one ring at a time without a compression tool save you the machine work. Save some quench pad. Though your angle could aide in some low valve lift flow improvements.

yeah it was terrible here in the states from about 1996 to 2014. Subaru used an inferior head gasket and then nothing to fix it, and still try to sell you that inferior gasket for that era of EJ25's.

Would it be better to place the ends of the copper wire at a bolt hole to increase the clamping load on that section of the wire instead of in the middle of the bolts where the clamping load is least?

Hey Ich hab da mal ne Frage: Können Sie einen Kostenvoranschlag für einen EJ20 stellen? Noch habe Ich zwar kein Bedürfnis für einen neuen Motor, jedoch spiele ich mit dem Gedanken einen solchen Motor mit Turboaufladung in einem Polo 9n3 Projekt als Umbau zu realisieren. Soll nicht für die Rennstrecke spezifisch ausgelegt sein (sprich nicht max.Performance) sondern eher als spaßiges Alltagsfahrzeug, jedoch schon einiges an Bums unterm Arsch haben (so in Richtung ~250-350PS maximal). Oder empfehlen sie für den Angegebenen Leistungsbereich eher eine Stock-Engine mit Lader, Ladeluftkühlung etc? Grüße aus'm Münsterland.

For your Outback? EJ205 hybrid. Chamber matched heads, sti hollow cams, stock 257 shortblock with re-gapped factory rings. Dead reliable. Fuel pump, id1000 injectors, rising rate fpr. 3 port boost control solenoid. Tgv delete. Your choice of turbo to match the hp mark. Good top mount ic will get you up to 380-400, so no need to front mount or rotate. Less lag too.

Подскажите пожалуйста, на J253 началась проблема с проверкой уровня масла, один день на утро после стоянки щуп сухой, хотя знаю что уровень есть, на второй день уровень полный. Место проверки уровня одно и тоже, время аналогично, пробег дневной одинаковый, просто по какой то причине масло не стекает в поддон. Спасибо!
