Thanks to your videos I have fired my audiologist for not providing the service I deserve for the high price of hearing aids. I decided to shop around for a new provider and actually found a hearing aid specialist who fulfilled my lengthy checklist of what I now expect from a provider. He confirmed what I suspected that lower-tier aid is more than adequate for my hearing loss at this time. He checked my current aids with real ear measurements and made a suggestion for a slight change. The most important part of the visit was clear answers to every concern I had, and I had a lot after watching your videos. I was pleasantly surprised that he carries more than one brand. My former audiologist only "pushed" one brand. The industry needs to take note of informed consumers and do a better job of servicing us.

I've been wearing the Starkey Livio AI 2400 hearing aids for a little over a year now (fitted with REM). I have never thought of myself as handicapped but without my hearing aids I definitely am. I love how they connect to my iPhone. I can answer calls and stream podcasts directly to the aids. The most recent firmware update allows me to "find my phone" by tapping my right ear twice - at the prompt I say "find my phone" and my phone will sound an audible tone that allows me to locate it (but you do have to be within Bluetooth range). Best purchase I've made in many years.

Great Video, Doc! I tested some of the Models in the Video. Using the rechargeable Phonak P70 since October 2020. Phonecalls in stereo are super. Double tap feature is so nice. Streaming quality is excellent. Video calls aren't stressy anymore. Overall connectivity is great. My recommendation - test at least two, three or even four different models to find the one that ist the right for you. To have a real chance to compare different models you need a good care professionel following best practices.

@Doctor Cliff AuD -- In a comment below you mention Auditory Rehabilitation and Auditory Training as something helpful to HA users. Have you done a video explaining that? Over the last 7 years I've had fair to middling benefit from my first two HAs (first Unitron and now Omicron -- both basic models) but watching your vids makes me realize how much I've missed out. I have moderate hearing loss with lifetime tinnitus that gets louder as I age -- kinda like a violin playing high C in both ears and as loud as speech. No provider has recommended Auditory Rehabilitation and Auditory Training so I'd like to learn more. Thank you very much -- so glad I found your posts.

I very much appreciate this video. I’m going for my first hearing aids next week which I’m nervous about. My audiologist tried to sell me Oticon minirite (I think it is) but the advanced one. I wasn’t keen on the idea of being stuck to one brand of phone so which I think the minirite is. With my friends advice I’ve asked for Phonak P90’s which I hope are okay. My audiologist said they’d let me try the Opticon side by side with the Phonaks, if I prefer the Opticon they said I can change to them for free which I thought was nice. Thanks for doing these videos, it’s quite nerve racking for me and learning what I have from your channel has really helped.

I've heard you mention making sure you go to a trained professional for hearing aids, but WOW is it important. My secondary insurance would only pay for a certain chain store to supply my hearing aid. (My primary insurance doesn't pay for hearing aids at all but that's a different topic altogether...) I got a Phonak from said store and took it to a trained audiologist, doctor of audiology degree, for $90 cash and had her tweak the hearing aid. She actually completely reprogrammed it and said the settings were all very wrong from the chain store. GAME CHANGER. The first thing I thought was how bad I felt for people who got their hearing aids programmed by people without actually understanding what they are programming. The next thing that's super frustrating is why insurance won't pay for a patient to go to someone who actually knows what they're doing. The Phonak programmed by the store that sold it to me might as well have been a cotton ball. When it is programmed correctly....it works! I can hear! Would be nice if it paired to my Apple Watch like the ReSound does. My point in posting this is to validate what you've been saying which is make sure you go to someone who knows what they're doing!

Think of it as a small local area network you can connect to to hear what’s being broadcast. As mentioned earlier, they can be used in some theaters, churches, clinics, and if you’re ambitious, you can even set one up in your home. Dr. Cliff is a big fan, but I’m my area there is one church, and only one theater that has one. The only places that really seem have them semi-consistently are audiology clinics. The idea is cool, but I just haven’t seen how I personally can benefit from having one.

Dr Cliff, Another informative and well explained presentation on the newest 2021 HAs. Do you have a recommendation for an excellent doctor of audiology or other trusted audiology professional in the Naples, Florida area. My main concern is finding one who is well trained in providing me with a proper Real Ear Measurement and best HA for my particular needs. Thank You, CJF

Hi Dr. Cliff. You seem passionate about treating hearing, and I wonder if you endorse any hearing professionals. I would like to find someone in my area who is up on the latest and greatest, and is unbiased towards certain brands. In other words, I want someone who is (a) good at what they do and (b) is not trying to push any particular brands.

Which hearing aid is the best if you are often in talk with many people at the same time? And to understand something faster when you hear it?

Any hearing aid combined with Auditory Rehabilitation and Auditory Training.

I just purchased the Listen Lively rechargeable hearing aids (100 day return policy). What are your thoughts on that brand?
@DrCliffAuD3 жыл бұрын
They would be great if they could be programmed properly.

27 have hearing loss in the low frequency and a bit overall loss but worse in low requency what would be best to boost low FQ with good sound quality and using a single hearing aid 😕 using phonak paradise rechargeable and hate it.

Inner scope doesn't require you to pay the doc. Self fitting and self adjusting. It has an app.

Which of these hearing aids is best for listening to music over the stereo?

I have the Starkey Livio AIs as my backups. I got the Phonak Audeo Paradise P90s. Hands down in my opinion, the Phonak are way better for listening to music.
