Forgot one really really really important additional motivator. They wanted a war of extermination. Without that there would still a few people who would be willing to risk their lives. But the thread of extermination + a good sum of money will probably sway quite a few people who would otherwise not have done anything, either for fear of losing their lives or moral reasons.

I think a significant portion of why most humans went along with it was due to the enemy literally declaring intent for genocide, as well as the actual legitimate human government being the one to issue the statement. I think most would be hesitant to kill someone if offered a lot of money, but by a shady guy in an alley, offering you no justification at all.

Counts on how big the supply is. If it was Sol or only human controlled space credits, yeah it's going to totally devalue the currency. But there is the chance of it being currency of the Coalition of Worlds or Galactic Senate which could be spread across multiple races. Which could be a drop in the bucket for all we know with the number of possible races out there. Even if it's "kind of a lot of money" from the perspective of a single person. And even without devaluing the credits. It's going to leave Sol broke and in a lot of debt.

Bleh, not much of a fan of this oversimplification. Ya, a few would fight for jut the money, but it's more about the compounding effect of having both been FORCED to fight by a declaration that they intend to wipe you out, and then the boon of getting a bounty, just for doing what you'd have had to do anyway.
