Better to buy a T-bill for one year and lock in the current high rates imo. As the Fed lowers rates this year money market rates will come down. 😊

Around what rates can you expect the one year T-bill to be right now? That's a good idea, especially if the Fed starts cutting rates this year and typical high yield savings or money market will get slashed too.

About 5.5% and you can sell before maturity at a premium if rates do fall

It would appear as though Milli Bank is now only a 4.75 APY, tanking it from 3rd place way down towards the bottom. Also, the next contender, Customers Savings Bank, has dropped from 5.36 to 5.14. It's insane to see how often these things apparently fluctuate. Makes it much harder to make a banking selection :(

Yeah I think more banks will cut their rates in reaction to the Fed's plan to cut interest rates this year. Some banks are keeping rates steady, fortunately. Also some people are locking in treasury bonds at elevated rates while they last. Good luck!

I pick banks with high interest, no jumping through hoops and full reimbursement on ATM transactions including international transaction fees. Currently with Primis Bank Premium Checking.

That's awesome, I am glad to hear you are experiencing these benefits with your bank! :D

@@MichelleMarki Both Ally and Capital One customers can use Allpoint AND Money Pass ATMs but it's not well publicized for Money Pass. Ally reimburses out of network ATM transactions, Capital One does not. There are also very generous regional banks as well. Primis Bank being one example.

Is there any bank that just pays interest monthly?
@MichelleMarki3 ай бұрын
Most interest-paying banks I've used pay interest every month. Which banks have you used that do not?

@@MichelleMarki The head of the Federal reserve, Jerome Powell said rates are going to be higher for longer and he's going to continue quantitative tightening so hopefully the savers will finally start getting some of their purchasing power back 👍🏻
@MichelleMarki10 ай бұрын
@@JohnDaniels I would enjoy that for sure! I'm keeping an eye out for PCE, and as long as that's nowhere near 2% (it's closer to 3%), I don't think Powell & co will entertain lowering rates too quickly barring some economic crisis manifesting this year.
@JohnDaniels10 ай бұрын
@@MichelleMarki Exactly, when the FED starts lowering, we are heading into a recession and you will have about 6 months to a year until we hit bottom and that's the time to deploy your cash because that's the time you monies purchasing power will buy the most during the brief deflation. Savers have been getting decimated with all this money printing, for example, if you saved $200,000 to buy a house but now the same house is $400,000 or more so more than half of your purchasing power has been borrowed by the Federal reserve and government with all the money printing, that purchasing power has to come from somewhere and it comes from savers or anyone holding dollars.
@MichelleMarki10 ай бұрын
@@JohnDaniels Thank you for these insights, one can hope!! It makes sense that our purchasing power has become obliterated with all the money printing. It's no wonder Buffett said something like "cash is king" as last year's Berkshire meeting -- I think he's waiting for these buying opportunities, sitting on over $168 billion in cash in mostly treasuries
