Great video, I just took a punt on these boots on Amazon and now I‘m glad. I like walking Welsh fields that are water-logged, it means low life expectancy on my boots usually, we‘ll see. Loved your infectious presenting and smile, made me wear one too.

Hi ….. Thanks so much for watching…. I don’t think you will regret your purchase….. Its quite a coincidence that you have dropped this comment two day after I just purchased my third pair of these marvellous boots….. Me and my lass are doing the Cleveland Way in three weeks….. You have put a smile on my old face with your kind words regarding my presentation style….. Thank you 👍👍👍

Very interesting didn’t know that….. Well i am on my third pair and my lass is on her second pair…. I find that they are very durable for such a lightweight boot…. I wear my old pairs for work and can say that the upper outlasts the soul by a long way…. Fantastic boots…. Hey thanks for the interesting comment and for watching…👍👍👍

I've loved mine, but the heels are now worn through. Think I'll be replacing with same. Seems a shame to ditch them when the uppers are still perfect and totally waterproof.

Exactly……..I am on my third pair now…. Yeah the rubber treads go way before the upper…..I just did the Cleveland way with a brand new pair and i never gave them another thought….seamless transition between old pair and new…. Great value for money…. For me its also that you get all that good stuff and they are so lightweight….. hey thanks for dropping a comment….appreciated 👍

@@fergl1673 A blanket statement without backing anything up is useless and a waste of everybodies time. I would like to know why you think they not what they used to be. But i expect you one of the few who dont know how to properly look after footwear. So i think i have lost interest in what you have to say. I now have 3 different pairs of salomon, i also have addidas,assics,nike,miendl,merrell even a karrimor pair of boots for the garden. To be honest i cant really say much bad about the cheapest pair of karrimore. They are 5+ year old, they waterproof only for the first 2 years. Needed 3 sets of laces,washed and treated with nikwax 3 times. As the karrimore weatherproofing (not goretex) has broken down now, no point in reproofing them. But im sure they will last me another 3 years of mowing the lawn, considering they only cost £45. I doubt i will buy another pair of karrimore, but im quite sue i will buy salomon again.
@fergl16732 жыл бұрын
@@archie2archie @dinga dinga it's very simple. I have had Salomon footwear for years and the last pair of boots (quest 4)I bought felt cheap. The pair of runners before that(speedcross)went back due to them not being sized properly and being poorly stitched. The boots are lasting half the time of the first two pairs as they are showing signs very early. Both bought within the last 18months. X ultra 4 mid, quest GTX and 4d, tundra winter boot and a couple of pairs of their speedcross trail runners. The older pairs of boots held up well and at that time they the best I've worn, for sure but new pair is most definitely of a lesser quality. Deteriorating much quicker and foot fatigue has became an issue where it was not with the older ones. Like I said. Salomon are not what they used to be. Have a look at some of their reviews lately, they ain't that great. Oh yeah, another thing. There's no need to start taking shots at people, it says quite a bit about your character.
@archie2archie2 жыл бұрын
@@fergl1673 Like i said a blanket statement is useless,thankyou for backing it up with some examples. As for taking shots at people, i dont know where you are comming from with that. Perhaps it says more of your character that you take others opinions as a personal attack, feel the need to play the victim and cry about it.

Whats the fit like Rob. I'm slightly wide and like a bigger toe box. Had berghaus boots before the merge with Brasher and they lasted me a few years but were snug.

I guess you did not have any complaints about grip with these. Or did you? Others had, I found a review on their product page: ''The boots are made of beautiful soft leather, however badly let down by Vibram soles which are so slippery on wet rocks I daren't wear them on the Wales Coast Path as a slip in the wrong place could be catastrophic. Its such a shame about the soles which aren't safe for day to day footwear let alone walking boots. '' and this ''Paid £150 for a pair of supalite boots.Very comfortable however soles have worn out after 12 months.Probably done 1000 miles on mixed surfaces ,one third on hard surfaces.£75 minimum to resole boots.Other boots half the price have lasted me three times longer. '' I've tried Northwave Multicross GTX mountain biking shoes with Vibram sole, but it was a sole Called Fort William(after the Fort William downhill race track I guess) It had horrible grip, on the pedals, so I guess walking too ,but they did a horrible job with the mid sole i guess as it was not bening up much so horrible to walk in. Possibly worlds stiffest mountain biking flat shoes. So I bought Adidas/Five Ten Trailcross GTX, the toe protection is not great, but same super grippy outer sole. it's a mix of a running shoe, hiking boot, mountain biking shoe into one shoe. But it does not have insulation like the Northwave did. But the gaiter has a Velcro strap. I will see how they are. they are meant to be good at hiking up and down stuff, as they have thread pattern at the front and back that is meant to hook up. Gore-Tex sure works great. I've had several shoes with Gore-Tex, never had an issue.
@RobertJohnKerrUK Жыл бұрын
Great comment thanks for this 👍…. Its a brilliant topic…. The rubber dilemma: softer compounds have better traction, but wear down faster - and vice versa…. I would never trust any boot on wet rock….
@mtbboy1993 Жыл бұрын
@@RobertJohnKerrUK My first impression with the VIbram sole was horrible, it lacked grip, so much I can't see how it could be good for a hiking boot, maybe there are different compounds but the one I tried is not good for any shoe in my opinion. A robust, slow wearing but grippy sole is possible. The RideConcept shoes I use for riding look promising, rubber is not even leaving marks on the floor and are grippy, but seem to wear slow. I have Ride Concept Tallac, they have hexagon thread pattern, but have different pattern at the front and back for hiking. But Tallac is a summer shoe. I don't know how well it works yet, but the Ride COncepts TNT, did not do so well for hiking up in terms of grip, pattern is not as good, but shoe it self is super comfy and great to walk in. The Five Ten Trailcross GTX will be great to hike in, but time will tell how good or bad they are. A decade ago I rode in hiking boots, not sure what they were, I suspect they were Timberland, but so long ago I can't say for sure, but they gripped well enough, so hiking boots that are durable enough and with good sole exist. But not used hiking boots in over a decade. But running shoes, both Adidas and Asics have horrible sole, it grips well, but it tears, so must be wearing fast for offroad running. Many do the mistake of riding with such shoes, sole gets torn apart in weeks. The Asics were offroad running Goretex shoes. Goretex worked well, but sole was trash. I abused it on bicycle pedals, but still, not a good sign. I imagine running on rough surface like gravel will wear them out fast.

I’ve been absolutely hammering my Brasher supalites for nearly 15 years now. They are about to be retired due to wear and tear on the soles, as you would expect after 15 years. But they are still waterproof. An absolutely amazing boot.

Berghaus Supalites currently £99 on Amzn. Mine have worn thru the heals and started squelching after 3 or 4 yrs. Uppers are fine and still waterproof. Didn't like them at first and was upset at the expense. Barely wore them for 6 months. Sole felt thin and not much arch support. But got used to them and they've lasted. Now other boots feel heavy and cumbersome. Plus they are not a wide fit like the majority of boots.
