Best Hiking in Central Florida! | Doris Leeper Trail in New Smyrna Beach

This week we explore some of the best hiking in Central Florida - the Doris Leeper Trail in New Smyrna Beach. We hope you enjoy this inside look at what hiking is like in Central Florida. It can be hot, humid, and there are a variety of critters to encounter like we did on this trail with snakes, spiders, and even roaming gnomes! Florida trails are all about the wildlife, the forest, and the water. You don't even have to visit a state park to enjoy some great hiking trails like this one. Midway we also stop to eat some homemade vegan snacks, including spicy Cajun boiled peanuts! It's a salty Southern specialty that you'll find all over Florida!

I'm from DeLand. Now I live in Georgia. And they sale those peanuts here at gas stations. Plus you can buy some different flavors at the Piggly Wiggly here in Moultrie GA. I miss seeing New Symra Beach

Haha!! So true. That's why we love venturing north to some of the national parks with mountains for some epic trails. If you head further south in the Everglades, the Florida Trail starts down there. It's VERY different than any of the other long trails and focuses more on the wildlife. We feel your pain. It'd be tough to hike that far without mountains though! 🏔️🌴

Have encounter panthers or bears in your hikes? lol Ill be this weekend on Florida cavern state park and I want to do the hiking there. But I'm afraid to see alligators or panthers like big wild animals. I think I can manage with snakes lol.

Only one time in Smoky Mountain National Park near Gatlinburg did we see a black bear and it wasn't even up close. In Florida we've never come across any bears or panthers but if you're kayaking or canoeing in certain areas you're bound to see alligators. They've never been a worry though since they're usually sleeping on the bank of the shore. Have fun on your hikes and thanks for watching!

So happy you enjoyed the video! Usually when we're hiking the Doris Leeper trail, we're on there for at least a few hours and then lunch on top of that. You can go a lot shorter or longer if you like since there are bailout areas along the trail that will take you back to the trailhead. It's a great trail!

We've seen snakes in the area since there's a lot of brush but haven't seen any gators! It's always possible though in the general waterway areas though. It's a nice hiking trail. Thanks for watching!

What's up with all this "Gut Hook" chat? I don't care if the video is dated you should all do an update cause Gut Hook no longer exists as a separate entity it's either been folded into or expanded into FarOut on Apple's App Library.
