Just set up my FT2 yesterday. The bench is awesome. Although not advertised, It works great for situps by setting it in the decline position, adjusting the seat up slightly, and wrapping the assisted pull up strap around the bench leg securing the ends over the weight peg. There is just enough slack to make the lower leg curl pads a comfortable anchor point for your feet while doing situps.
@MattTolbers

I like that idea! Glad you like the bench :)

I've finding the decline position very uncomfortable. I'm tryin to find a better way to anchor my feet. Are you refering to the use of the leg attachment here?
@richardthomas6602
@richardthomas6602 2 жыл бұрын
@@si2k7801 yes the leg attachment has a peg for stacking Olympic style weights on it. The metal ends of the weight-assist strap will fit over the weight peg. Slip one end of the strap over the weight peg, wrap the strap around the bench leg and slip the other end of the strap over the weight peg. Sit on the bench as if you were doing leg raises. When you lower your torso for a setup, the leg curl attachment will move forward enough to release any excess strain on your knees.

@si2k7801 2 жыл бұрын
@@richardthomas6602 thanks! will give that a try. Other than this current issue with the decline position, this bench is SOLID. Feels more study and reassuring than most benches I’ve used at a gym.

@@MattTolbers Yep, that's the one. I really want the leg support it includes too for ab work. Is there a reason why this and comparable benches have a big gap between the 30 and 45 degree angle? I know some people find 35 and 40 to be a sweet spot for incline presses. It's not a deal breaker for me. I can just add some support underneath like you did if I really found it necessary to angle around 35-40 degrees.

I know in an earlier demonstration of the leg curl part of the leg machine, you complained that unless you took the pin out and dropped the attachment as far down as it goes and kept the pin out (cause there's no hole that low), it hurt doing them cause your leg felt like it was bending backwards. I think when you set up for leg curls, you're supposed to raise the seat a bit till it's even with the round pad. If you already figured that out,........nevermind.
@MattTolbers

Yeah both ways work, I just found it more comfortable to drop it all the way then just raising the seat.

Hey Home Gym Reviews, this is a great review. I had no idea this bench existed as I have been looking at the Powertec, ForceUsa benches that feature these add-ons for leg extensions and preacher curls etc. The one gripe especially with the ForceUsa bench is that it is too high to do a bench press safely with your feet squarely planted to the ground you are on. I am 5'11/6'0 and I currently own a cheapo Powerblock bench. Whats nice is its adjustable and I always have my feet on the ground with no issue. What is the height of this bench and do you find yourself not being able to fully plant your feet on the ground? Thank you again for this awesome review, this has now moved to the top of my list of immediate purchase and has jumped over the Powertec because of your KZbin review. Thank you!!

The weight is written on the plates. You can put any size olympic weight plates you want on it and just add the total together
@kylesykrebs
@kylesykrebs 3 жыл бұрын
@@MattTolbers sorry I meant the plates on the FT2. Right it’s just numbers like 1, 2, 3, etc? So suppose I normally bench 150lbs. How would I know which plates to pin?
@MattTolbers
@MattTolbers 3 жыл бұрын
Each number is 10lbs. So selecting 10 on both sides would be 100lbs because it’s a 1:2 ratio at first which means basically half the weight it appears. But it has 1:1 ratio option where you can make each weight stack be full weight like selection 10 on both sides would now be 200lbs total. The bar also weighs 20lbs so If you bench 150lbs you select 13 on both sides which would be 130lbs plus the 20lb bar. Only use the weight 1:1 ratio option when your strong enough to max out the 1:2 ratio. Hope that makes sense. Watch more of my videos on it for demonstration

And what is the dimension of the accessory rack when both curl and leg attachments are stored? Thank you!!

Are the SCS and FT2 the same bench or is there a difference? Dutch webshops have priced the latter at €100 more than the SCS yet the only difference I can see in the pictures is that the FT2 has red stitching while on the SCS they are black. I don't think the higher price is due to an included leg of biceps attachment because the size and weight of the packaging are listed as indentical

I have a question about benching with the Inspire FT2. Do you find that it is bothering you to start the bench with the bar on your chest, instead of above your chest? So the first rep is all concentric from the the chest to extension before you have an eccentric movement. It is the same for the Squat. This is the only thing holding me back from getting the FT2.
@MattTolbers
@MattTolbers 3 жыл бұрын
Very little because I've got it down to where I can lower it with my wrists turned and the safety pulleys come down and as I get to bottom twist my wrist back which releases the pulleys and go back up. After the set you just go to the bottom, twist your wrist and bring it back up. It may bother you a bit at first but you get used to it quick. The positives of this machine highly out weigh the very few negatives in the design in my opinion.

What are your thoughts on the gap in the bench when its flat? Concerned on the support where that gap is.

It’s about an average gap for a bench that goes from decline to 90 degrees. It doesn’t bother me at all, but for flat you will have to make sure you sit down in the correct spot or you will feel the gap

there are a few different ways to do it but for comfort I’d recommend getting the leg attachment and putting some 45’s on it to keep leg extension down while doing sit-ups or if you have the ft2 connect it to the cables and select a high weight. It’s not the best bench for sit-ups but works well still

Question - how high is your garage door rail from the floor? I’m curious how the FT2 fits under there if it’s a 7’ door.
@MattTolbers
@MattTolbers 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, the bottom of my garage door rails are 8ft 3in high. With the pullup bar at it's lowest height it's at 83'' which would maybe give you an inch of clearance max not counting if you put it on a stall mat. If your garage door is at 7' I wouldn't recommend putting it under the door.

@@MattTolbers thank you for taking the time to reply. This thing is somewhat massive for my 3rd stall where I’ve already got a power rack. One other question or concern I have is that I am taller, around 6’4” and wondered if the leg extension and curl setup with the cables would give me an issues in terms of it being an awkward fit? Hi Matt, How do you find the width of the seat. Do you find it to be too wide or get in the way of some lifting. Someone posted that they found it got in the way when using dumbbells. We purchased the FT1 5 months ago and just purchased the SCS bench 1 day ago but have not yet picked it up. We were lucky because it was the last one in stock, my only concern is the width of the seat and my husband and I are new to lifting. Any help is appreciated.

can you workout on the ft2 with your garage open? enough room for pull ups etc.?
@MattTolbers
@MattTolbers 3 жыл бұрын
You’d have to measure how high your garage door is when it’s open and compare that to the height of the FT2 to see if you’d have enough space. I have mine at the highest setting but you can lower it and just bend your knees for pull ups. I never have my garage door open because I have air conditioning

I love both and they both have key features I love. If you can only get one I’d definitely go for the Inspire SCS bench. Since both have 1000 pound weight limit and can do decline all the way up to 90 degrees which is the basics I’d look for, the leg attachment option for the inspire really make it a better option for most home gym users. If you don’t need the leg work the get the Rep

That’s nice, but doesn’t compare to the Inspire Fitness FT2 for the price. The Ft2 takes up less room because you don’t need to load plates on the sides it’s all build into machine and weight plates and so is the spotter arms. To much adjusting things on the G12 where inspire is super quick and convenient, which makes for a much nicer workout experience in my opinion.
