The brakes aren’t any different. Only noticeable changes are suspension, seat, lights, clutch, and a couple other odds and ends. The CB250 from 12 years ago also has a 345lb passenger Max spec, and came with the passenger area to the stock seat, strap and folding pegs. It only had a 234cc carb. motor and handled 300lbs just fine up to 60mph. Little slower up steep hills, but you are only checking flatlander riding anyway. Posture looked a bit better on the CB. Similar old fashioned pre load small shocks.

@xfiringsquadx4 жыл бұрын
Can it do 2 up? Of course. Those of us that grew up on dirt bikes are all too familiar with throwing a friend on the back of a 50 or 85 so a 500 can definitely do it. The real question is how well it'll do it and for a 500 I'd say it does it pretty well. The Vulcan S probably takes the cake with 2 up riding in this class but this bike isn't far behind especially considering how much smaller it is.

Very interesting video 👍 I have a crf 250 rally, and myself and my wife are about the same wieght as you guys. We are both probably slightly shorter. I made a higher seat for my wife to sit on to give her more leg room and it works really well. I think your wife is sitting too far back. Maybe you need to reposition her footpegs and maybe make her part of the seat a bit higher. Try swapping the pegs so they put her feet further forward.

Can't order, according to Honda. At least for the Rebel 500 SE ABS my son owns. That one was doled out to particular dealers. Simply adding a trunk+rack to my honda rebel 300 caused some kind of weight imbalance. It went from feeling nimble and light to slightly heavy and when i took my hands off the bars during deceleration the handlebars wobbled a little bit. It made me paranoid about getting death wobbles on the highway so I took the trunk off and it went back to being light and nimble and the handlebars stay smooth if i remove my hands now. SO how the crap does it not happen with a passenger? Or is it something people don;t notice? OR is it a difference between the 500 and 300cc versions?

Basically, if you could do it over again would you have ever gotten the 300? Or would you just recommend the 500
@MrCODEmaster004 жыл бұрын
New riders (in general, I forget his wording) are told 2 different things by Motorcycle KZbinrs (FortNine, motovloggers, etc.) and they both boil down to the same thing. 1. If you're a bigger guy, if you want that power or are on the interstate a lot, you want the 500. 2. If you're just starting out, the 300 can do interstate speeds, but it won't be passing people, it's a good /starter/ bike, some MSF Classes use it, so on so on. Essentially both points tell people asking to go for 500 or get the 300 and drive it for 3 months to a year, or whenever you feel comfortable and try to sell the 300, the Rebels hold value since the new buyers are always considering them, it's Honda so it's reliable, it's a cruiser so it has better insurance than a sport bike, it's a bike that's well liked by a lot of people. *Short of it:* multiple sources advise to get a Rebel 500, whether that's from the git go, or whether it's "once you get used to it and if you're intimidated and have concerns about faster bikes". All roads point to 500.
@LifeOfBurch4 жыл бұрын
What MrCODEMaster00 said is pretty spot on. If I could do it over, I’d just get a 500 from the beginning. BUT with that said, that was my plan all along until I found such a crazy deal on my 300, which is one of the perks to the 300- how much cheaper they can be found. So I think it all depends on which one you find a great deal on first, and what your plans are with the bike. From what I’ve seen, the 500 will easily cruise at what the 300’s top speed is. I plan to do a video soon going in-depth about it all, but hopefully that helps!
@samkirk35094 жыл бұрын
LifeOfBurch yea I found a super cheap 300 and I’m debating it or if I should just save up a little more for the 500. But thank you both for the info and I’ll def subscribe bro!

@@samkirk3509 When walking in new terrain, it's easiest to follow the footsteps of the person in front of you. What I mean to say, is Burch found a crazy good deal on the 300, if you found a super good deal, if it's getting you on a bike for the first time, I'd personally go for the super good deal on the 300 if I could, and as with Burch and so many others, sell the 300 and change bikes whenever you're ready to go faster, the 300 holds it's value quite well, so it's not a bad bike at all.

@@LifeOfBurch you are def my type of people my dude! i drove all the way from chicago to philly last summer when they announced they'll be replacing TSSF at sad summer fest 2 days before the show so I can be front row and center for their very first show since pandemmy. I also then drove all the way to middle of nowhere Syracuse, NY with this girl i asked to be my girlfriend at their very last show in 2021 when they played "you in january". Thanks for the vids! Gonna pick up a 500 this summer so just curious why you chose the OEM pillion seat for the 1100 and not the seat u installed for this vid? Thanks Burch!

I do have a Rebel 500 2022 and it's really not good for 2 people! The passenger will feel EVERYTHING in their back. 100% 1 rider bike. Only my personal opinion

Great video once again. Your next upgrade should be a screen.

Thanks man! I plan on getting one, but still trying to decide which. It seems like all the ones that I think look good don’t do much, and all the ones that deflect wind well look ugly 😂

I am running the Dart Classic flyscreen on my rebel 500 and really like it. Keeps all the wind off my chest, my helmet is still in the breeze but makes faster highway travel less tiresome for sure. Plus it looks great in the little bike!

You might want the rear shock set at 6 or 7 if you often have a passenger I don't think 5 will make much of a difference

could a passenger seat with a backrest be safer more for the back rider?
@sanddemon964 жыл бұрын
How was the seat for you? How much better than the stock? Would you say it's worth it, or should I just stick with buying the factory passenger seat?

Great video, thanks for that (and special thanks to your wife 🙂👍). Here in the Philippines I've seen a tricycle with a125cc transporting 6 adults and 1 child 😂😂 I know, crazy. Thesis again. I think the Reb 500 is my next bike

In Davao and some provinces in the Philippines, a Kawasaki HD 125cc can carry 8-10 passengers. It is the common means of transportation. Try to visit Diwalwal and Buringot areas for you to experience yourself.

Man I just bought the passenger seat(stock), windscreen and sissy bar for mine. (Still waiting for the sissy bar though. May be a wise purchase for you man. I'm gonna try my wife on my 300.
@LifeOfBurch4 жыл бұрын
I’ve thought about a sissy bar, but it’s not really the style I’m going for. May just stick to the VFR when it’s time for two up riding. We’ll see though! I’m always changing my mind 😂

100cc in Vietnam is a family van. 2 kids on the tank, wife in the back and a baby on her lap.

How tall are you guys? I really like the rebel 500, but I'm worried cuz my wife and I are 5'10" and 6'3". NVM, I missed the part around 11:20
@LifeOfBurch4 жыл бұрын
Ohh yea at those heights I’d say the Rebel will probably be a bit cramped for you guys. Doesn’t hurt to go to a dealership and sit on one to try it out though! Also, DePretto Moto makes a forward control kit that would give you about 6.5” more leg room, but that still wouldn’t help with the passenger leg space unfortunately.

Did you have to re tune the ecm or anything else on the bike after installing the muffler? Did you do any mods on the air intake as well?
@yamaharider80144 жыл бұрын
It's perfectly apparent to me that ur wifey MUST get a motorcycle endorsement from the DMV, and the Rebel becomes her ride!😎👍😺
