It sucks that OC Parks graded the section of Barham Ridge (from Coachwhip down to Cactus). Used to be a super fun downhill, now it’s a boring loose fire road

yes, most importantly, arguably more dangerous now but... i guess the goal is long term safety which is kinda meh. I liked that the wide section was ideal for hikers and there was more of a side 'singletrack' where it was made clear bikers go there. that's much safer for multi-direction traffic.

Ya so disappointing and the jumps up top now its not even worth pedaling up their anymore

This idea of a lunch ride has always been hilarious to me. 30 minute pack up and drive, followed by an hour on the trail and ending with another 30 minutes back home or to an office. Like how in what world does that exist. Extended lunch ok sure but surely not an every week thing. So silly. Great video as always Mr. Meatballz

Well it depends on where you live and how much you think ahead I guess. Haha - thanks Drew!

Don't forget the 30 minutes to shower and get yourself presentable again.

My favorite system in OC. This is where beginners can become journeymen... And if you wanna go out of your way you can even level up from journeymen to expert in a few places here. All in the same system. How cool are the natural rollers/drops areas, with smaller and bigger sections side by side. It's perfect.

So fortunate to have this system 10min from my house. I've only done Chutes ridgeline once - one of your videos gave me the confidence to try it. I walked a few sections (it's soo loose out there and I'm new) but made it down without incident. Thanks!

i grew up riding chutes throughout the early 2000s. fun fact, we used to be able to drive cars down to where the jumps are at the top. made it way easier for people to help dig and maintain the jumps and trails. the fact that oaks is basically a bike park now is cool but i definitely have more run-ins with hikers on MTB trails now. still a fun local spot to rip.

So many trails here in OC pretty much suck, because they lose too much elevation way too quickly. For example, why is Cactus graded so tight in a very narrow strip of land? You end up braking too much. Ideally, the best trail would cause the rider to barely brake at all. The local trail builders should take some lessons from builders up, like in the Santa Cruz or Lake Tahoe areas.

Another great video, thanks Tony!! I think Yucca is the perfect warm-up, so I park at the school and take the short pedal up to the top of Yucca to start my day there. Hope you're having a great time and finding some great riding in UT this week!

How bad is it without one? I’m finally getting back into mountain biking from a long hiatus. I’ve never been to this spot even tho I live like 5 mins away. It’s been months of debate about an e-bike or regular full suspension. Due to the prices of anything with good specs I gave in and just bought a regular non electric full sus. I found a nice spec’ed Santa Cruz Bronson 4.1 for crazy deal I couldn’t pass up. Hope I don’t regret it once I hit the hills 😂

I’d say give it a try on your trail bike.

E-bikes are against the park rules. You can’t legally ride them at Santiago Oaks.
