We had Irish setters when I was growing up. You don't see them much in the US these days. This one is absolutely stunning, and yet you can still see how goofy she (he?) is!

Wow, that was an impressive group! Love that the dachshund won, I have two dachshunds myself, a tweenie long haired black & tan, and a mini red smooth, they are my sweet babies. My goodness though; the Mastiff, Setter, Sheepdog and Bichon were beyond impressive, don't understand how the Poodle got second place over them. I don't dislike Poodles, I've had them before too, but I never had them in that hideous haircut. That haircut is so outdated, no one gets that cut anymore why can't they show the Poodle with a more modern cut?

Actually judges tend to be harsher on their favourite breeds because they have even greater knowledge of them

I have Papillion’s and it was so nice to see a pap win last year. But I was so thankful to have seen this in real life. I was there and all of those dogs were very capable of winning. But well done to both winners.

All lovely doggies and the best doggy won. Watching the show this year wasn't the same without the legend of the Crufts lip-mic that is Peter Purves in the commentary box (why he was fired? If it had anything to do with age, whoever's responsible ought to be ashamed of themselves!) … but his favourite dog breed won Best In Show and he got to give the prizes out.

There used to be big ones winning more often until so many new small breeds joined in. I think it started in 80s when the small ones started to win more often, but before that it was pretty even.

@@ashleycrane415 It takes decades acquiring knowledge on dog purpose and confirmation, decades of careful knowledgable breeding, of building upon generations and then if you're lucky you'll have a puppy with excellent breed qualities. It is unlikely a breeder would be willing to sell such a puppy but if they did it wouldn't be to the highest bidder, it would be to someone equally as knowledgable who could be trusted to care for and exhibit that dog. It then takes an excellent upbringing, socialisation, training, good nutrition and superb exercise to get a dog looking like the ones here do, which is nothing short of dedication. The dog must be then campaigned to the owners financial expense at championship level shows around the uk against very stiff competition in order to even qualify for crufts. It must be handled by someone who has the skill down to a fine art in order to show the dogs best qualities and get to this level of competition. There most certainly is a lot of skill here. I wish you could just buy a dog like this. Certainly would save a lot of us the lifetime of dedication it actually takes.

Tallulah of Alaska none of those things are evident. A woman gropes the animal for a few seconds after it’s been made to stand in an unnatural position and then takes a walk in a circle before the hopes and dreams of the handler get crushed. Fly ball, agility, searching, obedience all take hard work and skill from dog and owner. All the shows are concerned about is looks and how well it conforms to an arbitrary standard. You can learn more about dogs from the Staffy display team than this lot.

2020 first time i had a black tan dachshund and i fell inlove with my girl. Now i also have a choco dachshund.. I didnt know that it was best in show in crufts. Beautiful dogs but most of all very loving
