For those who don’t know Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey have a podcast, The Office Ladies, where they’re rewatching and analyzing every episode of the show. When they did this episode they received a story from a woman about this cold open. The women’s daughter was born with severe medical problems (I think it was her heart) and had to have extensive surgery. And during her recovery this scene was the only thing that would cheer her up. She said that she and her daughter watched this cold open well over 1,000 times because it always made her smile.

im so clinically depressed since 5 years and the amount of joy this made me feel all at once made me cry. Tomorrow im going to move out of this homeless shelter into my first flat (im 21), my terrible colon desease is gone, i quit drinking eventhough i was drinking a bottle of whiskey a day and my happiness came through for the first time since i was 13 3 days ago, this intro made me realize that i shouldnt be afraid of feeling this happiness and its just all coming out i cant stop crying man its so fucking unlikely for this decade old show to just now show me this intro when i couldnt have needed it more than ever man last time i cried a tear of joy was 1 year ago in psychiatry when i looked up to the skies (was allowed 30 minutes out) and realized that it had become summer, and that i could have had not been experiencing that beauty due to a suicide attempt, that felt something like this right now but no drug ever made me feel so happy as iam right now and im going to get a fucking cat this month, i never had one and always wanted one, im so fucking happy its unreal! thanks for this, the office
