Saw a couple of people who said to stop doing skits and go back to the old videos. Looks like you guys listened but don't take it too seriously. The reason your channel blew up was because of the skits and the quality of your video production. What you guys could do is just do more knife talking at the end of the video and that's it. This is the best knife channel on KZbin and you guys put a lot of work into the videos. Keep it up guys!

thanks a lot Zilla. We do a knife talk video every now and then. It's both good for sharing information and it gives us a little breath. even these knife talk videos take a few hours to edit but at least they don't take a whole day of filming. We need these once in a while.

I will disagree. Most people here want to know about knives. Skits were funny but took away from pure joy of knife porn bit too much. 80% knife 20% funny is good ratio.

Nonsense. A good knife talk video will always be loved. Skits are not needed every time. We're not all 10 yo that can't be entertained unless someone is acting silly. The boys will do as they please so it is fun for them. We aren't in a position to demand from them what we want, they do this for fun so let them do as they please so they continue to enjoy it and bring us a quality product.

Moras. No one should have just one. As a spare knife in every pack, give them as gifts. I love my Swamp Rat Ratmandu. It slices, it dices, it batons (batoning relaxes me as well), and it's bomb proof. Since I live in the city I carry a folder more often than a fixed blade and my favorites are the Spyderco Para2 in m390, the Spyderco Delica, and my Benchmade Griptillian in CPM M4. Honorable mention to the Ontario Rat1 in D2 steel. Best $35 you'll ever spend. Love the channel guys. My next knife will be in 3v because of you!

I just love my Mora Companion! And after regrind it to a higher edge line, it's a beast at carving and even at kitchen tasks. Some convexing on the edge with black compound helps avoid chipping. Yes, 12C27 isn't tough enough to a thin edge, it will chip out. But that's esialy soved with a convex edge done just by hard strop. I also like my Aurora, BUT my is in Elmax and.. not tough enough to hard carving. The first .5 mm form the edge gets damage/bending time to time. It's just to fine to the steel. At least it's bending and not chipping, thought I does chip in the very edge. That said, elmax keeps sharp very long. That's nice.

Have to say this. I bought an Aurora because of the consistent recommendation from you guys and I can't wait to pick it up today. I had a custom that may have been from a maker who was a bit too early in their career and it failed me. So when I decided to go for a reliable production knife it didn't take long for me to land on the Aurora in 3V. Thanks DBK.

can tell when someone knows their knives when they say that the custom knife they have cannot be on the top five because they havent used it enough to know how good they are, thats called wisdom, someone ones said that a good knife will perform bad in the hands of a unexperince bushcrafter but a bad knife will look good in the hand of a good experienced bushcrafter i take that to heart, knowing your knife knowing its strengh and limits is what will help you survive with it

I just want to say thank you for doing a video in your old style, I really enjoyed it. The two of you really do know your knives, that's why alot of us were kinda frustrated. like the Terävä Jääkäripuukko 110 review didn't even really talk about the knife much. I'm gonna watch your videos regardless and remeber it's your channel, so do the videos you want to do, but personally, I enjoyed seeing a video like this again.

I carry a dedicated carving/craft knife or "Slöjdkniv" as we call them in Sweden. Two decades of bushcrafting taught me a sad truth: When you are dealing with the "craft" part of bushcraft a Slöjd-knife will outperform every premium knife on the market because they arent built to do anything else except carve wood. Once you adopt the habit of carrying one of these you no longer need your belt knife to be able to do finer tasks as well as before. You will likely end up with something on your belt that perform better in all other areas. Mora makes great laminated steel Slöjd-knives like the 105, 106 and 120. They are about 90 grams total and around €12. The sheaths will attach to the buttons on your shirt, or where ever you decide to put a button - old school tactical! I really enjoy customizing the handles of those knives.

After the beating you gave the Mora Companion I'm curious to see if the Mora Companion "Heavy Duty" (3.2 mm blade width vs the Companion's 2mm) is worth the extra few quid/dollars/euros. Presumably it can take more of a beating, though gods know how you could beat something even more, bit does that thickness result in the blade's geometry being less good at things?

My top five... 1. Bison bushcraft knife with o1 steel 59 hrc. A fantastic balance in my opinion. 2. Woodlore bushcraft knife. (ray mears original) 3. Bark river auroro a2 cpm 3v. For obvious reasons. 4. Fallkniven s1 pro c0s steel. I prefer the length of this to the a1. 5. Cold steel srk in cpm 3v. Yes people it is available in cpm 3v. This list is based of what knives i would most like to use and own. I do not own any of these knives apart from the bison bushcraft knife. I can not find a better balanced and better performance than this anywhwere on the internet. The o1 steel keeps an amazing edge and sharpens fairly easy. DBK should buy one of these and review it as i think it might be the best ever bushcrafting knife.

this sort of video is the reason i subscribed to this channel way back in the first place! glad to see another one like this. it is your channel and while i enjoy the creative editing, shots, and production, the silliness was over the top on a lot of videos for me, it became too distracting, and more about entertainment than learning good information / data from use of the tools, imho. i hope there continues to be a balance of these various factors on the channel, and i hope the channel continues to grow!

Nice thing about the cheap Mora knives, you can afford to use them and afford to loose them. And no worries if you sharpen the edge to death. Just get a new one and try again. Or plan ahead and buy several. Personally I prefer the Robust, not the most recent model with the "larger" fingerguard and shorter blade, but the old model that looks more like the companion. Love it.

Tough one, I can only name 4 that I consider worthy and one of them is a folding knife because I can actually have that in my pocket almost all the time. 1. Benchmade 940-1 2. Mora Companion 3. Mora Bushcraft black 4. Mora Companion Heavy (I seemed to prefer the normal thinner companion for fine work, and the larger bushcraft for anything else but it'll get the job done if it has to) Its hard to justify having a full size knife with me on a daily basis, but I can get away with a folding knife like the 940-1. Its one of the more solid locks, good long blade and it looks nice. Not the biggest fan of 9% vanadium in the cpm s90v alloy since it basically forces me to use the diamond plates for sharpening, but it holds up quite well for a stainless steel. So for that reason its my top knife even though its a folding knife. In the backpack/when going somewhere I would prefer a fixed blade, depending on the bag and trip my current pick would be either the companion or bushcraft. But I am looking at adding more larger fixed blades to my collection, the Garberg seems okay though I'm not sure about 14-15% chromium in the alloy. Steel wise I'm leaning more towards CPM 3V (7.5% chromium and some 2.5% vanadium) or just plain old carbon steel at the moment.

I don't know about top 5 but the schade schf36 is 1095 high carbon steel, 1/4inch thick(dang!!!),10 inches long, full tang with nice chole, it comes with a diamond sharpener and ferro rod and is only $35!!! You can't get a knives anywhere near that price with the same specs. it has a TPE over mold handle so it sticks to your hand very very well even when wet. the only down side it that it is high carbon and can rust if not taken care of (so is the Mora companion thought), but it is powder coated so only the edge can rust. the ferror-rod even cones with a sharp edged striker so you don't have to use your knife spine.

Hmmm, my top five FIXED BLADE knives (lets do folders and survival machetes next), the ones I use the most and are my go to favorites of all time......5. Bark River Bravo 1 in A2. 4. The Sigmora Scandi Survival Knife made by Koster Knives for Sigma 3 Survival School in CPM 3V. 3. The TOPS Tom Brown Tracker 3 in ATS-34 Steel. 2. The William Collins Knives Master Woodsman in CPM 3V. 1. The Beck G-Model WSK in O-1 tool steel. 1. The Soldier River Bushcraft knife by Turley Knives in 0-1. And finally, 1. The Turley Knives M5 Z-Sere Bolo number 007 in O-1. WHAT THE HECK? You can't have three number ones in a 5 knife list! Sure I can, it's my list, LOL. I have dozens and dozens of knives like you guys, but the ones I use the most and that really stick in my mind are these (I carry five of them with me everywhere in my bug out bag (plus other bigger knives and saws). They are all different, and all do some things awesomely and some things only so so, but that's why I carry more than one at a time! Great video guys; I love a relaxed, chilled out discussion every now and then! A good mix of seriousness and madness is the way to go IMO.

I know that you both aren't interested in knives much bigger than the Fallkniven A1, but I would be interested for you to review a couple for a video. Show us why you don't like them. Do a VS video. Very large VS Large VS Medium VS Small knives teach about the pros and cons.

Say Heah M&M, What's the difference between the Mora Clipper and the Mora Campanion ? The Tang on the Clipper is shorter but robust. On the Companion the Tang is longer and more slender. I have no problems with my Vintage First Mora Clipper. And I never seen a handle break in half, heh heh heh.,,.
