I had been gifted a medispa voucher for my birthday and was thinking about going for a laser treatment since, without the voucher, I usually wouldn't be able to afford it. I'm shuddering to think I nearly booked a CO2 laser or a chemical peel without the right information. I think I'll save my skin and probably just go for a relaxing spa day/massage like my friends originally intended with the voucher!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU x1000. You are helping so many people with this video, you've got a new subscriber out of me!!

I have likely permanent hyper and hypo pigmentation all over my lower legs because a nurse who was working out of a doctors office, and came well recommended, was so overzealous and aggressive with her laser use. I always tell anyone working with my skin how sensitive my skin is to pigmentation changes, but I think because I'm so aggressive with my SPF use these days, some assuming I'm exaggerating. Its so frustrating that some providers don't put enough care into their procedures. Thanks for putting this out there!

Thank you!! Looking for the words “Fellowship” or “Fellowship trained” in procedural dermatology or laser medicine in the credentials on a website is the most helpful. “ACGME” which stands for Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education is the best. That means the doctor completed a fellowship in which they had to perform and log in thousands of proctored cases using every type of lasers and devices with instruction. It’s a rigorous advanced training AFTER completion of board certification in dermatology and after residency. Of course not every doctor will have this (fewer do actually) and it’s not always necessary but for those with darker skin tones or who are at higher risk for complications, this is what u look for. I hope this helps,

Hi there great content! I wanted to inquire what is the best laser for a person of color to date for most effective dramatic facial rejuvenation results after one or a few sessions usually ( I'm of lighter skin mixed complexion to Patrick Mahomes/ Alicia keys) Do you prefer YAG embrium laser technology or PicoWay for best results? Focusing on removing wrinkles on forehead and especially wrinkles in under eyes reducing large pores and removing a few sun spots and sun damage on face from poor sun protection over the years (45 years old). I don't mind the longer downtime. Also Fraxel and C02 not recommended lighter skin of people of color?

Thank you for an education VDO, I wish I saw this sooner. I’m Asians skin type 3, had Duo Fraxel done 3 weeks ago. Unfortunately, it left me with PIH and hyperpigmentation. The doctor who performed the treatment put me on Hydroquinone treatment. Can I get Pico laser to help speed up the process? Or any other treatment that could help ? Thank you
@Spicydoc1 Жыл бұрын
So I am using hydroquinone at 12% compounded pharmacy. You don’t ever want to use hydroquinone for more than a couple of months at a time. I’ve also had amazing results in the past due to my ignorance and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation from micro needling with the use of pico laser. I needed several treatments. I’m at Fitzgerald skin type five. I’m not at all a cosmetic dermatologist, just a neurologist, and have done quite a bit of digging around for what’s good for the skin of color. I am somewhat educated now.😅

Today is the 4th day and I feel better and the scabs are going away and irritation. Do you think picosure is best for enlarged pores? That's my main concern, to tighten the pores and smoother texture. I have olive Indian skin.

I honestly think it takes a laser fellowship to truly be well versed with lasers. We have to log in thousands and thousands of laser cases proctored by an expert attending. Each laser, every wavelength, different settings, all skin types - we do it all and we have to log in all our cases (thousands for each laser)thru the ACGME. I’m not saying all providers should have this hi level of training in lasers BUT if you want the best- that’s what you have to look for in a providers credentials to avoid unforeseen complications. Or have a laser nurse who was trained by one.

Thank you so much for this highly informative video. I'm based in Switzerland. My skin tone is a 3 and I'm struggling to find someone who understands how to help my melasma and hyperpigmentation. I've had a highly qualified dermatologist do microneedling on me and only after the 5th session (250 USD per session) did I realise that my hyperpigmentation was in fact worse than before and had spread. As a result I find it hard to trust the local dermatologists. Thus far I've managed to fade the damage slightly with cysteamine, retinoid and at home red light therapy. I would appreciate to hear about your experiences on at home red light therapy devices.
