I really like your statement about not taking sponsorships. I know that many creators will only take sponsorships if they truly like the product, however it always makes me doubt what they're saying as I'm not sure how much of it is true or if they've cut out things that they don't like or could be a drawback because they're getting paid.
@DrStefaniKappel9 ай бұрын
True and then they are in contract and the company dictates what they say. I see it happening to many derms I know. They can’t even talk about other products because they will be in violation of the company. I had a mentor who told me that my education is not for sale. I cannot be bought or sold by a company. “You worked hard to get where u are and you are no one’s person” she told me. “You owe that to yourself and to your patients who trust you”That really resonated with me when I was still young and in training and it still does 15 years later. ❤️❤️ Truth

It’s good you’re educating the general public about the pitfalls of online research. Other things to consider: Impact factor of journal matters. Institution of the author matters and their publication history. Often times you can contact the PI and get the article if you don’t want to pay the third party publishers who are taking a huge cut as a middle man. Peer review can be a double edged sword as it’s often old boys club at the top of those boards-you see people getting published based on who they know on editorial boards, rather than the quality of the science. It’s sadly not uncommon to have retractions later if somebody gets caught fudging their data in the aim of publish or peril. It’s not all terrible though and good to have some guardrails-and non clinicians can still access more reputable sources like pubmed for biomedical research that has been peer reviewed. A lot of PIs are happy to send you reprints if you beg nicely and want to see the whole article. Don’t believe everything you skim in the abstract lol. :)

@tinam633 ай бұрын
Thank you for pointing this out! I was hoping someone had already said it. You can almost always get at least the abstract from pubmed on all studies. Many full articles may be behind a pay wall, but so long as you're willing to pay the fee anyone can subscribe to the journals. Also, many article authors will give you free access if you can figure out how to contact them directly as they aren't compensated by the journals and don't want their research blocked from public view. This is my first video I've watched by this creator and I've paused it to comment and then will be clicking away as I feel like that was a typical physician scare tactic to make the general patient feel ignorant and like the physician is the only one who knows best. That's how our "healthcare" system became so untrustworthy. Sorry for the rant on your comment!

I appreciate the wisdom shared on this channel! But, Bovine beats Marine Collagen? That certainly has not been my experience. Nor has it been the experience of my mother. But I’m sure each brand’s supplier and manufacturing processes play a role in the purity and the efficacy of their products My favorite is Andrew Lessman’s marine collagen. No, I don’t work for him. I’ve just tried a lot of different brands of supplements. He also makes a version that includes type two collagen. And he does offer a bovine collagen, but I found that it wasn’t as effective for me,. Many do like it, tho. He owns his own medical grade manufacturing facility, and he never uses fillers. And, he has strict rules for standardized mixing, testing for contaminants/metals, and guarantees the purity of products . I know I sound like his biggest fan and I suppose I am. All of his products have helped me so much. Anyway… I humbly recommend reading the reviews on HSN. They don’t change reviews on their website, at least they’ve never altered mine, good or bad …. Back to Lessman’s supplements… everything he makes is so good. Dr. Axe’s, multi collagen is also wonderful. The name of his company is ancient nutrition. You have to order Andrew Lessman‘s from his company’s website, Procap, labs, or on HSN. The products by Ancient Nutrition are also quite good and are available on Ancient Nutrition’s website, but also health food stores. Both of these companies also have stores on Amazon, but I find that the best deals are not always on Amazon.

I’m laughing at myself. I’m sorry I gave you such a long response. I know you didn’t even ask for it. I just thought I would share both of these companies for you to test and check out. I find that a lot of people don’t know about them & In my experience, they are vastly superior to what you can buy on the average store. Anyway. This is all just food for thought. I hope you have a good day.

Hey Dr. Stefani, What is your advice for premature facial fat loss? I did a couple venus viva treatments for acne scars last year and the the esthetician also applied some Venus legacy sculpting on me at some point. I did this with an esthetician who I have returned to over and over again over the years every time I am back in my home country as she really cleared my skin and introduced me to the hydro facial a few years ago and I really trusted her. I was really looking forward to this treatment and addressing these scar insecurities. I am not sure if the fact that she was out of some cooling creme that comes with it but still took me in and (I cringe to say this part) at the end she literally ran out to buy a bag of frozen peas in the store next door while I was sitting with a mask on that she then applied to help my burning face cool off 🤦🏻♀️ or if it is the procedure in general that was gonna do the damage anyways. I feel like I believed in the procedure and even though it was a tough recovery I felt like I saw rejuvenation and improvement and went back for a second treatmenta couple months later. I think that she mainly targeted scar areas and that's when she did some Venus legacy sculpting on my neck and nasolabial lines if I remember proper. The first time she's encouraged and did under my eyes with the Venus as well. Well, shortly after I started to notice quite drastic changes in my facial fat and I feel like I aged by a decade+. It's been super disheartening. I am eating good amounts of meat protein and collagen and been making batches of bone broth recently but I am feeling like this may have been an irreversible damage to fix naturally especially that time is going by and natural aging factors are also factor atop of it. Any guidance and advice appreciated. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😌

I returned my Vital protein powder bc of the Contains Lead Label per California to cause birth defects or othrr repriductive harm. Please lmk as I completly respect your knowledge and research. ❤✌❤

@stephanieFuller-hp3in That only pertains to a certain batch, which were contaminated and have now since been recalled. They were sold at Costco.
@StephanieFuller-ho3in9 ай бұрын
@@countfosco1 It says it on all labels of Vital Proteins though? Is it bc of the facility it is manufactured in?
@countfosco19 ай бұрын
@@StephanieFuller-ho3in I think it may have to do with manufacturing practices in certain US states or cities because those labels don't appear here in Australia. The reason I think so is because plastic material was discovered; there was a recall to do with that as well. That's all I know, I'm afraid. But that's true of many food supplements. The problem is products aren't being tested for toxicity to ensure quality manufacturing is going on.

Thank you. I'm 54. Im pretty fresh. But, there are no remedies to reverse age. You will notice it after 50. I looked like you until 50. Thats when it started. You can look pretty good though. Following a guy who just turned 60. He looks like hes 40. Collagen peptides and vitamines keeps you a great after 50 woman.

But Marine collagen has higher bioavailability than bovine & I took 8 gms of marine collagen peptides combined with vitamin c Hylaraunic acid, Glucosamine HCL& biotin 😅 it works well for me 😅 As we Indians we hesitate & reject to consume any bovine cow based products 😅
@JaggedMercenary6 ай бұрын
Good idea. I also take marine collagen, and it's usually the most recommended one anyway. Not sure why would anybody need a bovine based one.

Yup I’m a vegetarian and prefer marine collagen too. It’s amazing.
@chriss.40934 ай бұрын
I did the research into marine and bovine and there ARE differences that makes bovine the better source. I don't remember what they are, but I do know that's how I ended up with choosing the bovine for myself. Interesting those watching YT videos think they know better than an actual dermatologist. That was her point of presenting the peer-reviewed studies... Google findings aren't correct half the time. She also has zero reason to support bovine over marine with that brand, also ,because that brand has BOTH available. If that brand only has bovine, then sure there could be dubious intentions (such as brand promotions), but partly not so when the brand has both products.

Would you recommend marine collagen or plant based even though it’s not as effective as bovine? Meaning is it still doing something and worth taking? I stopped eating animals a few years ago for ethical reasons and would love to continue to avoid it 🙏🏻❤️

So glad I found your channel! Hoping to be selected to try your skin products. I know you are a fan of interment fasting as I am. Do you feel that Vital protein collagen will break a fast or stop at autophagy? I don’t do smoothies and it seems it mixes best with coffee (something hot) but since I drink coffee before I end a fast I don’t want to take it. Guess I need to drink something else but still want to know if you thing it will break a fast. Thank you!
