Thank you for sharing that information. I'm in the process of replacing my cam Bearings on my 2004 LQ4 motor. Summit racing has a nice chart that tells you the bore diameter of the block between the first and second design in 04'. Bore 1/5 = 2.326, Bore 2/4 = 2.317, Bore 3 = 2.307 (1999-2003 1st design) Bore 1/5 = 2.346, Bore 2/4 = 2.326, Bore 3 = 2.307 (2003- 2007 2nd design)

Good information and good content. Get a second camera and set it off to the side and film yourself working and then you can switch back and forth from the handheld and the stationary camera when you need both hands. Just and idea. Good job.

I used a similar type cam bearing tool and it ruined my bearings. Too much play in the rubber
@moccasinmarine Жыл бұрын
You have to expand the mandrel very tight. If not it will loosen and ruin the bearings.

Why doesn’t me 1-5 cam fit ? I have purchased my bearing twice 😔

I can’t tell you. Watch both of my cam bearing videos and read the comments. Maybe there will be a tip in there that will help you.

Can I get the part number to your cam install tool?
@moccasinmarine2 жыл бұрын
I don’t recommend the Lisle tool. It is $150 and it is not robust enough to last. The main rod you beat on is made from aluminum and the aluminum has not held up well. I would get Eastwood W89220. It looks like the same tool but is only $99.

@@papergatorzfedducca7998 cool thanks. I’m going to launch another tool to help with building marine engines. As a viewer would you rather support my channel by purchasing a small tool ( memento sort of) or by using the Super Thanks feature of KZbin? My opinion is viewers would much rather get something for their money ($20 tool) rather than donate $10 with nothing coming back to them.

@@moccasinmarine sure what kind of tool? And what exactly is a marine engine? Never researched it before.

@@papergatorzfedducca7998 ok never mind. You asked about a cam tool from an LS video. The tool Doesn’t apply to LS engines

I tried fitting the ch25 in my engine and they would not fit my 2nd design. Would I have done something wrong?
@moccasinmarine3 жыл бұрын
You must install them in the right position. Each bearing only fits a unique location (1-5) in the block.
@DaBuGzLiFe3 жыл бұрын
@@moccasinmarine I did, they were each individually numbered on the outside but it still wouldn't go in. I tried the old ones and it went in fine. 🤔
@moccasinmarine3 жыл бұрын
Measure the inside diameter of your cam bores and the outside diameter of your bearings to see what’s wrong. Are you sure your block is 2 nd design?
@moccasinmarine3 жыл бұрын
Just put CH -25 bearings in a 2nd design 5.3 LM-7 block. Check it out : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIPPd51olrapaas

DO NOT put race cam bearings in an ls if you plan on keeping vvt . Go ahead and ask me how I know. Machine shop did a short block for me. I'm currently rebuilding it myself..wiped out bearings only got 13 psi hot .. po011 code. Stock style bearing from clevite is the way to go. Better oil flow to mains
