What happened is that Donald was testing Patrick all along to see how far would he go to help him as his Best Man. A bit too extreme but, the test was that if Patrick accepted to help Donald to kill her, and of course not tell anything to her, he would be the perfect Best Man.

I clicked on this video because of Josh O'Connor - I wanted to see his acting outside of the Crown, and when the intro started with the pie and mash - I instantly recognized the shop!!!
