Two Marines were walking through Walmart. My 4 year old son froze. He pointed to the two Marines. “Daddy... look. Heroes.” I stopped the two Marines, each twice my size. “Guys,” I said, “my son would like to shake your hands.” The two Marines suddenly stood at attention then each knelt down and shook my boy’s hand. They spoke to him for a minute or so. They were so kind, so gentle. Then they stood and saluted and my son instantly saluted back. Then they walked away. 17 years later my son became a United States Marine. It was his dream, instilled by those two warriors. My son was severally injured and was honorably discharged two years later. But his dream was realized. Thanks guys.

I really liked seeing the little girl in her blue jeans, hanging out with boys. My mom served. She liked her jeans. I like men generally; they tend to be good Allie’s if you’re in a situation (and I always am). I just thought there was something nice about it. Men get trashed on a lot but there’s some good ones out there. We wouldn’t probably be able to live our lives as free people without the military protecting the constitution of the United States for us. I think our freedom is paid for by the military and for this they ask very little. I think this is an under appreciated perspective but very valid even within United States borders. I also liked how neat clean and composed the Marines were. So I’m saying thank you in my roundabout way. It’s hard in the political climate to know what to trust or think. But I do know that they are protecting us from real threats to our values and that those values are important not superfluous, the constitution. I’m pleased a child was allowed to be part of this ceremony. I feel they are saying their power is derived from what they are trying to protect.

@TravelCoach24 Well thats one way to look at it, mostly the one-dimensional way. I'm not promoting war at all, but killing has always been a part of human history, it's not a new concept. Maybe the tools have changed, but the behaviour has been there all way long. And of course i do no agree into governments going to war, but i always support the troops. If you'd like to have less war, vote for another government. I live in europe and without people willing to "murder" others, there would be a picture of the Führer hanging in every school, every government building. So where do you draw the line, at which point a war is "right", the reasons for it are "good". Thats what i mean by describing "one-dimensional".

I'm sorry, they where local ppl who wanted to make kashmir a muslim country but India will not allow that. We believe in values of secularism and we will do everything to protect our democracy and secular ideas. We won't allow another Pakistan to be carved out from India. We will stand till our last breath with the ppl of Jammu, Ladhak and those Kashmiri which always support India. India will not compromise with her principles on with she stands for.

@@MrMann-gt1eh I really respect that, and I think that your navy, the marines, and all your army are true warriors, what I don't understand is what do you figth and die in other countries, I saw a lot of videos when the marines come back home and see their families, that's really touching, but you don't have to do it, nobody has to die out of their homes just 'cause your pressident says that you will bring peace and freedom, we're all humans, we're all citycens in this world and we have to understand that we're brothers. @@pfdrtom Now everyone wears them, but ya know what, there are a lot more kids doing time where it ain't safe. I see a lot of kids going in now finding new respect for the Rangers and what they have to do compared to other branches. I tell them Rangers have got to always be ready to get their hands dirty. There are a lot of good people going in. Many wanting to be part of a unit where they can say "Airborne", be it 101, 82, or Rangers with a "Airborne" rocker over the top of the 75th scroll. Proud of these kids. I always steer them toward learning about the lineage of the Rangers, especially from Viet Nam era. They eat it up. Only hard working kids are gonna be in the military now. The average kid on the street today isn't worth a damn. They're all mommy's boys.

I served in the US Army in the early sixties and the US military is very diligent about taking care of service members families. It isn’t perfect but this shows how to get it right. Since this is dated in 2016, I wonder if this sergeant has been promoted again. He and his family are entitled to be proud of his service to our country.
