I'm may be the most insane of all haha. I studied the BSc. Chemistry and BSc. Chemical Engineering , I did both because I couldn't decide which one was better for me haha no regrets. Last year I graduated from MSc. Biotechnology in which I studied bioreactor engineering, biosepration engineering, modeling of biological systems, I did my research in transport phenomena of proteins in an ion exchange chromatographic column. Now I'm about to start my PhD in Chemical Engineering, I will be working in a project related to synthesis, optimization, control and intensification of processes and bioprocesses. Very nice video Manuel! keep on going with this kind of content! :)

Hello Luis, I've got a question: I'm currently taking a bachelor degree in Pure Chemistry but I'm afraid I'm not going to enjoy my future work as a chemist, so I was wondering If I would be able to complete my studies with a major degree in chemE. I'm from Italy, here a bachelor degree is usually 3 years long and a major is 2 more years. Last question, would I be considered as equal as a chemical engineer who took the common 3+2 chemE studies? Do workplace look forward that? Thanks in advance for any answer
@luisdominguezproblemasdein80723 жыл бұрын
@@tchem Hello!, regarding your first question, I recommend you to talk with the department coordinator. They may require you to take some extra courses related to transport phenomena, reactors and unit operations. Nowadays is very common to see Chemists doing majors in ChemE and vice versa. If you are crazy enough (as I do) you could study both bachelors (at the same time may be) and then study the major in whichever you liked the most, consider that this option requieres more time and money to spend. Regarding your last question, I have seen that most of companies do not care to much about your curricula, they are more interested in your expertise.
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@luisdominguezproblemasdein8072 Indeed, expertise is way more important, and if you are new, they will fit you into either chemistry or engineering jobs

@Luis Gil @Chemical Engineering Guy thank you both for your answers. Studying both bachelors would be great, if only I had enough money...so I'm probably gonna ask the department coordinator about any extra course I'd have to take. By the way, I had no clue that chemist and chemE taking each others major was actually a thing, that gives me so much joy and determination 💪🏻

Great video! As an 34 years old chemical engineer - guy, I could suggest that achieving a master degree totally worth it only if it's related of the field you're working on. For example, in my case, I work for an environmental consultant so I'm doing a post graduate studies (which isn't a master obviously) in environmental law and I'm thinking to go into post graduate studies but in natural resources law. As you can see, as chemical engineers we can go for almost whatever field of study you are interested and not necessarily being 100% related to chemical engineering or engineering it all, but as I said depends of the work field you would like to go (or field that you are able to find a good job, essentially)

Hi there I absolutely love your videos! I'm doing my BSc in chemE and I want to move to Canada right after and the sensible route would be getting my masters there.I wanted to do a masters in ChemE but everyone says it'll be difficult finding a job after because I would be overqualified for all entry level positions and it'll be almost impossible as I'll be an international student with little to no work exp. because even the Canadians themselves can't find chemE jobs these days.Since my main priority is better job opportunities people are advising I do a masters in data science instead,but I don't know what I'm getting myself into.And how is the job market for data scientists with a bachelor's in ChemE or my background wouldn't matter and I'll be doing generic data science work??What do you advise please?

Not quite sure on the "overqualified" aspect of a master degre... As stated, the MSc will be the door to Canada, so I would definetively go for that option if I have no other way to go to Canada... don't care about what they say about jobs, its always easier to find a job as a master thesis/internship working on projects than as a recent grad.... Regarding ML and AI, it is a MUST as we ChemE do not have anything on that, it will be pretty hard to land a job on that and if so, you will need to study by your own hehe XD... On the 2nd degree... as stated before, if you have time, and are willing to do it, its no harm, but if you are losing time on your career, I will recommend you to keep working rather than the 2nd degree... I am from India I have completed diploma in mechanical engineering.my father has factory of manufacturing reactor and other paint machinery as well as we fit plant(resin plant). now problem is that manufacturing knowledge is get from manufacturing engineering (mechanical engineering) and reactor and other machinery knowledge is get from chemical engineering also selection of equipment knowledge is get. so i was confusing about choosing my branch help me.
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy3 жыл бұрын
Chemical Engineers will know some Mechanical Engineering, but Mechanical Engineers will not typically go into reactors. They can, though... They just need to read some kinetics and reactions chemistry, then a reactor engineering course and they are mostly set up

Sure! nice idea! MBA is a very personal choice tbh, and depends on what you want to do or end up doing/working for, etc... Most recommended MBA are in the USA

I am a chemical engineer with more the 4.5 years of experience of continuous plant. Now I am planning to do masters from canada i.e. MEngg in environmental engineering. Is scope of master degree holder in USA or CANADA?
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hi there... well. I really think its generally easier and cheaper to go for Canada option, I've also heard they are more inclusive with foreign students, especially from Master degree.... But USA has way much more job opportunities out there... I would go were I will want to work, rather than the master degree which is only 1-2 years

Hi there, thanks for your comment! Let me address your questions one by one. 1) there is already a lot of jobs in environmental, not only that you can always go to process Engineering as well, since bte background will help a lot. 2) it is really not that though, if you r survived ChemE, enrinomental is going to be way easier 3) USA, Canada in the America's, in Europe I'll bet for Netherlands, Germany and UK, maybe even France... Your pick... I would go to the degree that I like the most of course

@ChemicalEngineeringGuy7 ай бұрын
that's a harsh one... tbh, im pretty sure petroleum engineering master degree is a great degree if you are inot O&G, which is a HUGE industry and valid for many other processes, just in case in the next 20-30 years O&G decrease. In the other hand, you may study MScn in ChemE, and sitll get an O&G BUT also go into any other field

I plan on doing masters in cse, Please let me know if this is a good option because I basically want to switch my stream. Also, is there any use of the combination of chemical+cse anywhere? I would love to know if both can go hand to hand together in a specific job, as that can provide a sort off incentive for me to study chemical with some interest .
@ChemicalEngineeringGuy3 жыл бұрын
For sure, you can do that pretty easily by doing a masters in coding/programming/computer paths... They can go in hand, but tbh, you need to focus on jobs of ChemE that have a lots of programming (they are a lot!)
