Do you have a wick to get water from the reservoir to the plant or do you just top water and wait for roots to reach out to the water in the reservoir?

No wick in most cases. The leca brings the nutrient solution up using capillary action.

Hello. I am wondering how do plants get root rot in LECA (fillling the pot with water completely) when the roots developed in LECA are water roots? water roots do not rot in water correct?

Plants don't actually grow different types of roots, they just grow roots that adapt better to the environment they're grown in. Basically, if a "water" root is grown in a high oxygen environment (like running water) and move to an environment with less oxygen (stagnant water) it can cause root rot, even if everything else is the same. It's the same with Leca. If the roots are growing in leca are above the water line and suddenly go under it, there's less oxygen, so there's more of a chance of root rot. Hope that helps.
