COD??? one simpel way to know if it´s melodic death metal are the screamin guitars fra regular heavy metal but with growlin you can understand instead of screaming, and not like konkhra or others that eat the mike so u can´t hear what they sing, then add fast drumming and voila u got melodic death metal melodic because you can actually hear a melodi in it instead of just the sound of instrumenst being destroyed...

I like this list (order doesn't really matter) but with a few points. If you put DT on at least have one of their songs, because metalica isn't death metal. Second, I only agree on IF as long as it is stuff like behind space and not their new crap. My opinion.

Good choice with In Flames being first. they are truely gods of melodic metal. As for Children of Bodom.... ehhh. guitar riffs are good but the vocals bug the hell outa me. There were better choices then them for sure. *Such as the Haunted or At The Gates* And you should have picked one of Tranquillity's original songs other then a cover of Metallica's My Friend Of Misery.
