So I went to see the "Battle of the Bays" tour with Obituary and Exodus. Upon walking in the door, I'm greeted to this sound of 80s Thrash/Crossover that blatantly assaults my senses, making me wonder, "is D.R.I. playing tonight?" No, it was Power Trip. They were not only brutal, but they managed to massage the ears of the 40+ guys (not that old...yet) in the crowd whose folded elbows soon were flashing the horns. I'm not sure if their's is my album of the year, but they were definitely my surprise of the year.

Opinions are opinions. I brought up Code Orange mainly since they're the only metalcore band that seems to get respect on this channel (The comment section specifically). Any band that is known for playing Warped Tour crowds like ABR. Are instantly deemed as "poser metal", no matter the quality. To them, you might as well say MIW released the best album of the year.

Blayne: Really agree on Necrot.... that album was awesome and no doubt everyone loved Power Trip, one of my favourites. I agree with Martin Popoff about Overkill as well being a good record. Sarah: Really liked that Spectral Void album, pretty fucking awesome. I'll have to check out a bunch of other ones I didn't get to that are in these lists. My favourite record was the new Cannibal Corpse - Red Before Black and I'm glad it got a positive review. Best 16 and a half minutes of december so far! Keep on going like this in 2018 BangerTV! For me, Mastodon's Emperor Of Sand is easily the best album of 2017! But also digging Dying Fetus and Converge! Should listen to Bradley's pick, this guy is awesome, he introduced into Dillinger last minute so i saw them three times on their Germany Tour and now he is responsible for 2 tickets of converge's tour 2018... You're making me poor man!

Being Australian I have a bit of a bias towards the metal bands here that are highly underrated but just as world class as the big names. Be'lakor comes to mind. Theres a great doco called Metal Down Under that is similar to Metal Evolution but instead focuses on Australia rather than a specific genre. Have a great Christmas Banger Bar! 🤘

Great wrap up, guys. Entertaining as always. At first I thought the "ren fair" comment was a little unfair, but then Pagan Alter came along. And I said, "Ah... makes sense." I haven't been able to get into the new Mastodon record. Definitely liked the Decapitated record more. I gotta check out that Power Trip record. I've heard too many good things about it. Can't agree with the Professor. I never could get into Overkill. The vocals just kill me. I agree with Brad, though. That Converge record is on point. Can't speak to that Russian record. I had a feeling Sam would revoke his earlier opinion of Emperor of Sand! I am also a diehard mastodon fan from call of the mastodon all the way thru the most recent EP cold dark place, just shortly after emperor of sand...so I totally get being critical and giving that tough love. I remember watching Sams initial review of EOS thinking what in the eff is he talking about as I thought it was a great record and maturely evolved. Great video guys!
