I beat you. Not that it's a competition😃 my best day came right around the one year mark of detecting. I hit a beach just after a tropical storm passed by. 14 rings, 11 gold and 3 silver. Three had diamonds. When I saw the sand was a good four feet lower than normal I knew it was going to be a good day. By the time I left that beach the sand was already washing back in. There's only one other guy that hunts there and he was out of town.

Here in New Zealand (I have seen quite a few mercury dimes pulled) I would pick the dime as that’s an American silver and I’ve never found one of them before, however if it had previously found a mercury dime I think I would go for the ring all the way. What an insane hunt that’s epic! 3 sushi’s in one video is nuts and 12 rings holy wow! My record I think is 3 rings. Very enjoyable video, keep at it and thanks for the share!! Cheers

Last night I got skunked and by watching a lot of your videos and learning about how the ocean works and pulls all the sand over all the targets were so deep that everything had to of been buried. When I went out there last night. All I found was custom jewelry, basically got skunked, especially when the night before It was bonanza for me, but that’s OK. Summertime is almost over and I’m ready to get out and do some old house sites I’ve learned a lot by watching your videos about the ocean and how to read the beach every day is different.

Parents hold their young children / babies in the very shallow water, the waves lapping up on the beach even, mainly mums with lots of rings, with their hands holing the child in the water, so they don’t need to be at swimming depth to lose jewellery. And depending on the beach, this tide line can and will be anywhere on the beach between low and high tide, meaning they could be dropped anywhere really, let alone then being moved about a few times a day everyday with the tides, as much as I’d like to think you can predict where finds are on a beach, I’d say it’s completely unpredictable.

Great hunt, Merrill, what a ring fest! I use a Deus II and I hardly ever dig bottle caps. I can clearly hear the distinction of the short, sharp broken sound made by one and have checked enough for curiosity to assure the target is a bottle cap, you can train your ear to avoid them. BTW, my BC setting is 3, and if I still have a question, I will up to 5 and it does break up. (Also use reactivity of 2-2.5 and it really helps to keep the chatter down around and in the salt water). (And I’ll take a merc over a stainless ring every day!)

I don’t understand why people get upset with pull tabs. There worth money. People used to remove them from the cans caused they weighed more than the cans. Get a 5gal bucket wash them and throw them in. Your going to find them anyway. Who cares how long it takes.

Someone I know lost his ring in the subway - not because it is the subway, but because he works there and wears half gloves to protect his hands and lost his ring when he pulled off the gloves. If your work gear is like this, wear your ring on a neck chain.

Hello from England - That gold ring with what you thought was an 'L',To me it looked like a '£' sign. They were quite popular at one time. However, I could be wrong. I didn't get a clear view.

I like stainless rings, but I’d definitely rather find a Mercury dime. Even though they’re only worth about $5 in silver.
