I own the Ibanez RG42FM and it is the shreddingest guitar I have played in years. I wanted to hate it when I bought it because I generally prefer higher-end guitars, but I couldn't bring myself to get rid of it. It's that good.

Just bought the Ibanez. I'm a Fender guy and was a little concerned about the 12" radius, but it's great! Quantum pickups are great! Added hipshot lockers and some Dunlop strap locks. Good to go!

I got that Ibanez for 300$ as my first electric electric guitar. Swapped the pickups with SD Black Winters and had it professionally set up for standard C. It's definitely my favourite guitar (I do have to say that I own only budget guitars, the most expensive being around 700$).

The Schecter is an amazing guitar for the money, I have a blonde maple gloss natural. It's fantastic, and I've owned Gibson Les Paul customs from the 70's back in the day when I was in bands everywhere. Bang for the buck factor is very high.

I'm just seeing this 9 months after you put it up. I'm 57, and have played since I was around 15 years old. In that span of time, I've owned dozens of different guitars, and even owned a guitar shop for 22 years. 3 years ago I picked up an Ibanez RGA42FM in the Blue Lagoon Burst like you have here, and I liked it so much than when I saw a used one in traditional sunburst pop up at a local store, I grabbed it, too. They're extremely versatile guitars, and for the price, I believe an unbeatable value. I play in the pit for musicals for a few local schools and theater production companies, and I also play for a church that plays modern/contemporary church music, and the RGA works very well for pretty much anything I've thrown at them. I played pit for a school that did the School Of Rock musical last summer, and last spring, I played pit for a school that did the Spongebob Squarepants musical, and I used my blue RGA for both of them. Got TONS of compliments from other pit members about how good it sounded. They're an extremely good value, they play really nice, and you can get all sorts of tones out of them with the 5-way selector. I'll eventually have one of the limited run purple ones, too, if I can ever find one.

have the omen and the RGA both are keen mid range axes but the Ibanez has kind of blown my mind in a recording sitch so much tone variables sounds crisp and the sustain is remarkable. the Schecter was a kind of love at first sight thing hard to put down also killer tone.

Wouldn't necessarily call these mid range. That would be the nicer Reapers, the SLS series, and the Banshee models for schecter and the the Premium line for Ibanez

Just got another Schecter guitar. This one is a Demon 6 in crimson burst. For the money they are hard to beat especially for heavy chunky type tone. Thanks for the great videos

Sun Valley Shredder has been a HUGE win for me. Every time I've gotten a chance to play one, they are set up SO damn well and sound absolutely phenomenal. Another I fell in love with is the Ibanez RGA42EX. I've seen videos after video of people trashing it, but I picked one up the other day (I was trying out the Boss GT-1000) and loved the shit out of it. It was stupid comfortable, stupid lightweight, stupid fast playing and it looked gorgeous.

This has to be one of the best videos ever for showcasing the variation in tone across the pickup selection. Really. Maybe it's the amp settings or the microphone type and distance from the cab, but whatever it is, keep that setting. I think the Schecter has the most defined and broadest range of tones. Those Diamond Pro pickups are really clear. I do like the Ibanez though and am glad you proved how good the Quantum pickups are. l also have to say that the Ltd has a fantastic Les Paul sound! I am not into LPs but that one's tone is just light years above the competition. Great quality review. Please keep doing reviews like this!

I went to look at a used Schecter Omen but did not hear it. The neck relief was very bad. But wow, first, the clean sound was really, really amazing here. That's not my thing on electric but the lead sounded I think the best here too, dynamic, rich... maybe I need to check with this guy again haha. Thanks for a great video! 👍🏻

Any of those would do. I trust in Ibanez. But all of them seems fantastic. Looks-wise I think Schecter is the best. I'd buy the Schecter or the Ibanez.

I have a 2013 LTD EC-256 that i purchased used for $150. Just purchased an Ibanez GIO GRGR131EXBK new for $250 and a GRGR330EXBKF for $289 used. Can't go wrong with a TOM or hard tail bridge set up on a guitar. Inexpensive guitars with floyd tremolo can be a little tricky. Some of the trems are made from cheaper materials which leads to tuning issues.

Marigold- periphery. I practiced that song for 9 months and it leveled me up a lot. And I always play it in drop D. I recommend everyone to learn it. It’s great for alternate picking and warm up exercises!!

Marigold Ibanez... nice! Never thought these cheaper ones would perform that well, as they sort of lose out a bit in the $1k range vs say Schecter or LTD. Schecter has no issue with solid bodies, lol.

Ibanez is like a Toyota. Reliable, and easy to use, and in expensive. Jackson is like Chevrolet. They have their cheap models, but also make Camaros and Corvettes. ESP/LTD are like Subaru. Also fairly reliable, but have their fast fun models. Shecter are like Cadillac. Nice and luxurious, yet have some power under the hood. I have an ESP/LTD KH 202 EMG HZ pickups, an Ibanez RG USA Custom with D'Marzio pickups, and a Jackson MG Dinky with OEM EMG 81/85s. The Jackson is my workhorse, but I love all three. Schecter is my next guitar.

I have the RGA42FM and the only thing I did was replace the nut to a Graph-Tech and change the strings to D'Addario NYXL 9-46. Then set it to how I like it. Some reviewers have said the pick-ups are dark or muddy, yet I have not experienced that at all. Compared to the neck on my Schecter Reaper FRS in which I happened to have had Plek'd, the RGA42 ain't too shabby at about 1/3rd the cost. The Schecter does have a 1500 Floyd and Sustaniac. The Schecter bridge pick-up is much hotter at a searing 18k. I don't know the Ibanez Quantum specs but they operate more like a really hot PAF.

I actually own that guitar. It is an amazing value,sounds great,and plays great. Super comfortable to play. Love the neck. I'm more of a drummer than guitarist but I can recognize a well built instrument with thought put into its setup. I'm Absolutely sold on Schecter. They make great guitars that punch well above thier weight. Awesome guitars. You can buy a 400-500$ guitar that plays,sounds,and feels like a much more expensive instrument. 🤘😝🤘

Schecter for me...all day. Excellent playing man! I really like your tone too except for one minor detail. There was a frequency or a loose end in the top end....well the low end...it was some kind of a loose, flubby, low end fuzzy, crispy frequency that if it wasn't there your tone would be 100% perfect to my ears. Regardless. Killer playing and great tone overall man...I am sure in a mix it wouldn't even be an issue.

Love my ec-256, but the pickups had to go asap, but that’s just me. My mh-401fr is honestly way more impressive though. I only have esps atm but I started on Jackson and I think my next will either be one of those new Kramer Pacers or might even save up for a Jem.

All metallica riffs from ride the lighting. That is when and how I learned to play. I love Escape. Ibanez is my favorite brand and my all time favorite models are the RG series. Not the RGA like the blue one (too thin) or S or Gio. The RG series is just awes. Thick solid comfortable and reliable guitars and that includes the J. Custom RGs and the Prestige RGs. I just love em.

I had Esp Ltd Ec 256 ...it sounded terrible.. when comparing it with good quality humbuckers . Meanwhile it had annoying fret buzz .. I traded it with Ibanez rg prestige 1520a. Limited edition.. I'm so glad I did .

I have exact same Ibanez RGA42. It's a good guitar, I like it, but the quality could be better. Have some problems with sticking out frets after 15 fret, and the nut just came off when I was changing strings. It's nothing too dramatic, I can feel sharp edges of the frets only when grabbing guitar, not playing, and it was easy to fix the nut. But I don't think that new guitar should have these problems if the first few years, even if it's relatively cheap.
