@@ThatFixItGuy I shut off the main water valve, let the sinks run dry, flushed the toilets and when I cut off the flowtite valve… the water bursted out and came out continuously and would not stop. I was not able to do the male/female adapter you recommend as a replacement. I shoved a sharkbite in there because water kept coming out. Am I missing something? Is there something different I have to do to make sure the pipes are empty? I have pex A piping and flowtite valves all over the house. Please help! Best channel by the way!

@@ThatFixItGuy Do you have a video on how to replace the faucet on this type of plumbing?
@etoobrute4 ай бұрын
@@jessetroy3525i know this is late, but you may have not shut the main off. Also, best way to make sure most water is out of the pipes is to run the tub till the water runs dry.

my new technique for toilet valves is put them in pointing horizontal pointing towards toilet and buy the longest hose they make. then it makes a nice gentle curve to hose hiding behind toilet less likely to break from sharp bends and twists nice looking also i think try it sometime
@ThatFixItGuy2 жыл бұрын
That is not a bad call Greg. I love the thought process of avoiding sharp bends. I’m going to do a video soon on hard piping copper tubing with copper tubing.

"That Fix It Guy" has another vid where he shows using a copper pipe cutter. I just used that method on 3 valves. Worked well, BUT. 1. If there's not 3/8-1/2" space behind valve to wall, cut thru the last 3/8" first, then cut 3/16" back from the front. 2. If you have a larger pipe cutter, you need to hold valve, rotate cutter, rotate valve, rotate cutter. 3. You'll be under a sink, not standing in front of a mock-up. I ended up removing all the plumbing and the disposal. 4. Don't cut the valve off before draining the system. There's gallons of water above you in a 2-story. 5. The SharkBite valves worked great. I thought I installed them wrong they were so easy. I know, comments are meant to be short.

Started doing plumbing work as a kid with my dad. Been out of it “full time construction” for 25 years. It wasn’t till just a few months ago helping a neighbor, I saw one of these useless things and I had no idea on removing. Reached out to brother who runs family business for 40 plus years. He’s never seen them or would use them. So far you provided the cleanest way of doing this. I want to finish helping neighbor and said I would have to check on this. Plus I need to know if she has CPVC or copper coming out These are the most worthless things ever created. Just my opine. There is no way to fix or adjust them. 300K home n this is what ya get 🤔🥺

So, I did this on both pipes under my sink. One is looking good, but the other is leaking, and it seems to be the connection between the CPVC adapter and the valve itself. I removed the valve, put new tape on, and put the valve back on, but not as tight this time. Still getting a leak. I’m concerned that I may have overtightened the valve and the adapter to begin with. Any suggestions?
@ThatFixItGuy2 жыл бұрын
Are you doing just teflon tape? I recommend tape and pipe dope. 3-5 wraps of tape then some pipe dope. I know pipe don't think it does anything, but it is my go to. Hope this helps.

You’ve removed the third retaining ring, which holds the decorative and functional escutcheon in place. That was unnecessary, actually made things worse. That escutcheon plate with metal retaining ring, holds the pipe solid, so it sticks out of the wall a certain amount. Leaving it in place allows you to push the valve onto the pipe stub without you pushing the pipe stub back into the wall. Otherwise, nice video! Thanks 👍
