Thank you Andrew. I've switched from basic mic's ( boya Lav / mini shotgun ) to a yeti and the sound quality is so much better.

Hi Paul, The Yeti for the money is a great mic, just make sure you don't mount it directly on the desk and find the distance away from your mouth that's best for your voice.

Andrew, thank you for your valuable advice and expertise! Which arm mount do you recommend to avoid desk thump sounds? I could not find the name or link to the mount you are using in your video. Thank you again! Cheers, Genvièv

I use the RØDE PSA1 Professional Studio Arm which is a little bit of an over kill. Any spring arm will improve things, you should also get a shock mount, just make sure the shock mount fits your mic. You don’t have to spend a lot, $20 for a shock mount and maybe $40 for the arm

Which mic are you using through most of this video is my question. I want that

The mic I used was a Rode NTG3, but that is only because I hate having a mic in my face, I like having the mic out of the shot. You can get the same quality with a Shure MV7 USB, which is a lot cheaper than the NTG3 and with the MV7 you don't need to buy fancy audio interfaces either, you just plug it in via USB. If you go for the MV7 make sure you get the one with USB, they also do a XLR only version, the USB version is USB and XLR

@@CourseBuildersAcademy awesome, thank you. i'm a course creator and teacher. i also don't want the mic in my face but don't want to sacrifice audio quality and i'm in untreated rooms most of the time since i'm always traveling. so i'll probably go with the rode ntg3. unless you have other recommendations? the blue yeti i'm using is good, but it's too big and i want viewers to see my face in the video. sometimes i move my hands around too and don't want that to be a hindrance to my presentation.

@@CourseBuildersAcademyHmm...still want to avoid having the mic in my face though. Should I go with the Sennheiser MKE 600 then? So that I'm not spending $700 on the NTG3, but also can keep the mic out my face/camera shot/view?

@@techedkirschEE Find a video that does a side-by-side I had a MKE 600 and the NTG3 sounded better with my voice. But bear in mind the room makes a HUGE difference, I made some sound panels which made a massive difference
