OMG, all the food shown are heavenly delicious! I miss the Singapore style fried radish cake. Sheena is right, the best bit from the claypot chicken rice is the rice crust at the bottom of the pot. Yum, yum, yum, I can't stop drooling! 🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

So crunchy and crispy right Su-Ling?! My grandma used to cook rice in the claypot as a treat and my sister and I used to race through dinner as we weren't allow to touch the rice crust until we'd finished the main meal. So delicious! I like the thickness of the won ton noodles. It was actually turnip or radish cake, not carrot cake but they're same type of veggie according to the chinese. The curry puff look good and I think they also have satay beef puff there too?? Only one piece of prawn in the mee, could at least provide four. Sheena did ate Clay Pot Rice in other video and is the exact same type of ingredients of Chicken & Sweet Chinese Sausage, etc. I wonder does she like other type like Pork Spare Ribs, Steam Frogs, or Yellow Eel, etc.??

The secret to the best Bak Chor noodles is the crispy fried sole fish. It adds a special umami to that bowl of noodles. Not many Hawkers use this in their noodles though as it's an added cost.

The noodles look lush to the MAX! Just my type of noodles, and SAMBAL hello! My FAV! Although I'd have to pick out the liver 😉 The curry puffs look like beauts! I've never seen one so flaky. I can't get enough of them in that part of the world! Shove it in your gobs guys! 😉 You better get ready for some crappy food videos coming from me in April 😎

So much food being shoved in our gobs ALL. THE. TIME 😝 You would have been right into these noodles mate minus the liver! And those curry puffs were just insane!! Loved them! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment David- SO looking forward to your videos in April 😄😄😄😄 Cheers, Sheena
@jameskoh29456 жыл бұрын
Liver is good for you...that piece of liver contains lots of Vitamin A which is good for your eye. Do you know that liver stores vitamins... liver is not only a wonderful organ to cleanse your blood of toxins, it is also a place for storing stuff your body needs. Liver must always be fresh and not overcooked, otherwise it tastes hard and grainy.

Remember the dolsot bibimbap when the rice never got crispy? Fast forward to Singapore claypot rice where the bottom got burnt. ☹️😂 Gotta find that middle ground! *_Excellent day!_* Especially loved the look of those curry puffs! Mmm, mmmm indeed.
@ChasingaPlate6 жыл бұрын
Hahahahaah it's a science that claypot rice! I remember my grandmother making the BEST claypot rice. The bottom could be removed in one piece and it would always be golden- never burnt. She'd fill our bowls with rice and then remove the rice crust and it would just sit on the table waiting to be eaten after we'd all finished our meal. Between me and my sister- one got to break it up and the other got to choose the piece they wanted first 😆So glad you enjoyed this one Tosh- thanks for watching. I could totally go for one of those curry puffs right about now- they were NEXT LEVEL! Cheers, Sheena
@tosht25156 жыл бұрын
That's a very sweet story/memory. Removing the bottom crust in one piece is exactly what I expected here. Then you started scraping and I honestly thought you were going to break the spoon. 😂😂

@secretdiaryofafoodie5 жыл бұрын
You said everything you tried was delicious, but I've heard from locals that there are much better versions of each of these dishes that aren't Michelin starred/recommended. Do you have anything to compare these to (such as Beach Road Prawn Mee which many say is the best in Singapore)? Also, are you critically reviewing the food places you go to at all, or just showcasing what you eat in a positive light for those who don't plan on travelling? As a blogger who uses KZbin to find authentic recommendations, it's important to know the difference. A rating scale for dishes would be helpful.
@ChasingaPlate5 жыл бұрын
Hi Secret Diary of a Foodie, thanks for watching and commenting. At the time of filming these dishes were indeed delicious although we were just in Singapore and ate the bak chor mee again and it wasn't as good as when we ate it for the video. The ethos of our channel is about finding the best local food in the cities we visit. Hours are spent researching, chatting to locals and eating on the ground before we decide what stalls/restaurants to include in our videos. Rocking up to any old place, showcasing what we eat in a positive light and banking on people not ever visiting those places is the antitheses of what we do. And it's the total opposite of what a person who is really passionate about good food would do as who wants to waste time eating bad food? We'd never say we're critically reviewing the food. We just love to eat and these videos are just an extension of our food based travel. This video is pretty specific in that it focuses on Michelin recommended places only as there are loads of people who prioritise these stalls when they travel- this video is more for them. In our opinion there are versions of these dishes in Singapore which are just as good, if not better- you might want to check our more recent Singapore content for these spots. As for a rating system- we don't really believe a rating tells our audience much. Our videos are about some of the best food you can find in a city- a tonne of research goes into where and what to film and most of the time the food is always top notch. Although if we don't enjoy something we will always say. Good food for us is about the atmosphere, the people you deal with, the smells and the sounds as much as it is about amazing flavours so we try and give our audience as much info in that regard as possible. Our emotional response and the level of explanation we go into is our rating really. We reckon just putting a number is meaningless when the audience isn't aware of what sort of 'system' of measurement you're using. Cheers, Sheena

Hi Adrian Yang, Singapore has strict hygiene laws- it's one of the reasons why they moved street food into hawker centres- so the authorities could monitor this all carefully. We didn't feel any of the places we visited were unhygienic. Thanks for watching and commenting anyway! Cheers, Sheena

Pretentious accent. Fake reaction from tasting the food for barely a few seconds. Just painful to watch.
@ChasingaPlate5 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂😂😂 I've never heard the New Zealand accent called pretentious before! Our job is to find the best food in the cities that we travel in and to eat for a living. So, if we weren't able to ascertain whether food is good upon tasting it, you could argue that we'd be really bad at our jobs! Cheers, Sheena
