Great overview. I do a lot of "audio for video creators" content coming from an audio background, and I'm always telling people to make sure you evaluate audio with headphones on, not on your smartphone or computer speakers. Then I was watching your video casually while eating breakfast and laughed at the fact that through my Note 8 speakers, every single option except for the internal camera mics was indiscernable from each other LOL. We spend so much time getting pristine audio, and then people listen on tiny tin cans and it doesnt end up mattering.

Great simple and to the point video. I've the videomicro for almost a year now. I love it. The compact size made me get it. The only thing is now I want to upgrade or find a way to have my interview type footage sounds better without having to be too close to the mic.

People do not appreciate is how much work goes into quality photography & videography. Its interesting to watch the changing window light - indicative of how much work actually went into creating a 5 minute long short video . . .

So I like to shoot short films and narrative content, I also am in a media club at my school which requires me to do a lot of commercial like shoots. I'm in the midst of editing an 'Alaskan summer vacation vlog' and I need something to do VO with. I was going to get an interface and the AT2020, but then I opted out for the lack of flexibility. So now I'm looking to get an H4n Pro and a boom mic, but there is not many videos going over them specifically. I would like one thats under $200 but also has pretty decent sound. Would you know of anything that might fit what I need?
@AndyBlackmedical7 жыл бұрын
very helpful! Would be interested to find out how you sync audio and video in post, particularly with speech!
@danielschiffer7 жыл бұрын
All of the audio in this video is being recorded by the camera. However, for the NTG4+ and the NT1 I have the XLR cable ran into my Zoom H5 which has a line out to my camera which is still recording the audio. The advantage of doing this is that you can turn down the recording level of the camera all the way and essentially use the Zoom H5 as a preamp to control the gain or levels of the audio going into the camera. This cleans up the sound and removes a lot of hiss.

I have both the Video Micro and the Rode Link. The wireless lav is handy in some situations, but I'm disappointed with the audio quality, especially since it's on the expensive side. I guess you are paying for the wireless technology

I purchased the rode link filmmaker kit, but it sounds much cheaper then I was expecting. It has some sort of backround noise and is not neutral rather a bit to "deep"... Any tipps or sugesstions ?
@danielschiffer7 жыл бұрын
Turn the audio level on your camera as low as possible and the turn up the dB level on the rode link. If it's still too quiet, then start slowly increasing the cameras audio level until you've achieved perfect levels. In post-production you'll want to adjust the EQ to make it less bassy as you mentioned. Up the mids and highs and you should be good.
@JonasTechTV7 жыл бұрын
I got the audio on my G7 as low as possible, but it hasnt worked really well.
