The F56 doesn’t have a BOV or diverter valve. It has an internal wastegate on the turbo. The flutter you here is not the back pressure or compressor surge on the turbine as some would think. The way the B48 works is that when you release the pedal the Vanos opens the exhaust valves and intake valves to equalize the pressure and dump any excess boost out of the exhaust valves and into the exhaust. The excess exhaust gasses that would be turning the turbine if you were still on the gas is being dumped out of the wastegate flap and under the vehicle. BTW Lohen did a test and it shows that the Eventuri intake reduces the 60-130mph time by .6 seconds.

That's great to know! I had no idea how this system works. I did hear that this is actually a better than a BOV or Diverter valve, to you think that to be true as well?
@robinbanks32882 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelBertini the Internal wastegate is a newer design. Although, newer iterations of the B48 in BMW vehicles has both an internal wastegate on the turbo and a BOV on the hot side just off the turbo. I thought about adding a BOV on my cold side piping but I really don’t think it’s necessary unless you want to do a full custom big turbo and built motor upgrade.

"After installing the Eventuri, it is necessary to redo the mapping; otherwise, there is a loss of power. After the adaptation, there are no more issues, and there is an additional 17Nm of torque."@@MichaelBertini
@entropicnic68922 жыл бұрын
not a mechanic, but I think the reason it sounds like a flutter as opposed to a "woosh" is because the air from inside the turbo is exiting through the turbine it came in through instead of going through a blowoff or diverter valve. Its called compressor surge. When you let off the gas, the air entering the turbo has to go out in some way, so it rushes past the turbine blades (which are spinning in the opposite direction) makes the flutter noise

Ahhh ok! That makes sense. Thank you for explaining that. I'm not familiar with this type of setup, so it's good to know that so I can explain it to others. 😬🤘🏼

It’s called a waste gate. Pretty much all modern turbo vehicles have it built in. Would have been nice in all that talking to mention where the water goes now that you have a hood scoop that’s functional. Or maybe you don’t drive in the rain.

Unfortunately disaster struck in Nissan Rogue motor in that car was completely dead Car still in warranty Nissan gave us the brand new engine for that thing we towed it to local dealer for 3 weeks for repair done to it Possibly I would put the twin turbo in it may cause problems with weak cooling system I would keeping it original for rated 181 maximum can handle 189 HP Me and my friend were laughing after my garage floor filled with oil and coolant I at least won gold medal in car show

Man... you cannot feel any difference... :| I have it on my Cooper S LCI 2. It ads like a few bhp, whp added it's under or around 2. :) The sound it's a totally different story, but 1600 euros for sound, it does not add up. Pair with an intercooler and some other mods and then you can start talking. It costs around 6-7k to get my Mini to 260-270 bhp and be on the safe side for the engine. So yes, it's nice but when I hear that you can feel any difference for only changing this, it's hilarious. You perceive it differently, yes and that it's totally different that "feeling" the difference.

@@b0shica I can’t speak to the S model, but on the JCW we had seen a 23hp bump and 22tq. There’s dozens of others on the forums who have posted their dyno numbers for their JCW’s as well. Of course, pricing is relative, but for $1,095 USD, plus the discount code for 10% off, that’s a good HP/TQ ratio to dollar. The engine bay looks much better and the sounds. 🤤
@b0shica2 ай бұрын
@@MichaelBertini It will give you more HP if and only if you do a Stage 1 remap and that is also a few hundreds of dollars / euros. That was my whole point. Out of the box, will offer you almost nothing beside sound. The same if you change Intercooler and other parts. Without with a stage 1 remap, at least, it will be equal to 0. This should be mentioned as well. It's also mentioned on their website. I do not hate or anything. When I started doing mods for mine, nothing could be felt until the Stage 1 remap. :) Adding more different "mods" without adjusting or doing the remap, does not makes the car feel very different. With a stage 1 remap for example, on mine with intercooler, this and one other mods, did like 27 more bhp with a remap(22 extra beside what the remap could give me with a stock one). Without any remap I had like 3 extra hp. Maybe it's because it's LCI 2 and automatic, do not know exactly.
