AutObarn fitter here. The kicker KS’ are good speakers. I’ve fitted them to quite a few cars and are a good entry level upgrade. They are well suited for both amplified and non amplified systems. Your head unit only puts out around 15W RMS and those speakers can take 100W RMS. So with even a small amp those speakers will perform even better. Good to see young blokes having a go and getting in a doing stuff. Good on ya. Keep up the good work

The GME AM/FM aerial is such a good upgrade, put one on my GQ years ago. Gets great clear radio at big distance from the city!

Get a Car-builders Insulation Door kit and you’ll be even more amazed at the sound. $99 for 4 door kit and you could use the excess on the engine firewall. It’s made a massive difference to my GQ.

I had the same problem with my 60 series cruiser. You can get spacer pods. I deleted the rear door ashtrays for more speakers. Its intresting watchin the rear passengers wind the windows down lol

Hey guys. Speakers don't work like lighting with positive & negative. Speaker will work either way with no audible difference. Just keep in mind you can reverse the polarity if you don't match the wiring👍

speakers will work with the wires around both ways. Sounds better to have both speakers wired up right though. Learnt about it at tafe but i think if the wires are around the wrong way it makes the speaker "out of phase" and sounds worse. Probably more apparent when one is out of phase and the other isn't lol. Good job though (Y)

Oh also did the factory speakers say peak or rms for the 25watts? Because without an amp you're only going to get around 30watts to the new speakers anyway. if you really want to get the most out of them you should buy a cheap 2 or 4 channel 100w rms amp which will be like a 3 or 400 watt 'peak' amp. They nearly always advertise peak wattage. Rms is the average, what it actually uses.

I did different speakers the other day on my 95 wagon same door card design I found the best thing to do was to use some 15mm mdf board as a spacer cut them out with a jigsaw installed the speakers into them and then rivnutted them into the door it’s super airtight and works a treat I’ve tried what you did but I had to redo the whole thing after a few hard bush trips

Hey guys you can get the wiring the wrong way round on some speakers and they reverse polarize or something like that basically the speaker will run in reverse no bass

Not sure if anyone has posted this but speakers don’t work nessarily work on traditional positive and negative wiring like say your spotties. The polarity aka how it is wired say positive to positive or positive to negative determines which way the cone in the speaker pushes the air to make sound. Any way, what I’m Tryna say is they will still work even if the wires are swapped but you are limiting your speaker performance. But the fuck would I know, I’m just a chippy 😂
