Good Flexibility but Zero Power .. I think the title of 'Best Moon Moo Ever' is a little arrogant. Also think of the purpose of the techniques those listed as high section is Eye level just because you can kick higher doesn't mean you should.
@SimonScher8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Fox Yah, I agree it is pretty arrogant. I didn't name this one. I asked a friend to post it. I should probably change it, but I have been too lazy. As for the higher kicks. I know the high section is your eye level, but it look cooler at more open tournaments if you do it higher. It shows more flexibility and control. It usually scores higher. As for application I like to think I am fighting an army of Kareem Abdul Jabbars or Andre the Giants. Then the higher kicks are justified :)

Yeahhhhhh I would NOT like to be whacked by Simon ever, like, ever. Bloody good control, damned strong stances and so, so much more. Mayt, while I will obviously learn to do the pattern to suit my old body (only just recently promoted and haven't progressed past Yon , I loved seeing Simon do this performance. Loved it. Thanks for sharing, Simon. Taekwon

Very nice leg control and flexibility... but far from the "Best" Moon-Moo ever. There were many technical errors.
@wushutaekwon-doacademy134 жыл бұрын
Good leg control. But far from "the best." If he polishes up his fundamentals, it can be a good pattern. Great leg control sir but make a good knife hand.
@QuaxhMedia9 жыл бұрын
The pattern was good, but you've forgotten one of the most important techniques in ITF: Sine wave. The also seemed rushed at many points and lacking power (Which Sine wave and opposite force could have helped) Your flexibility is very good and if you combine that with solid technique and power, it will be up there with the best, because the best Moon Moo I've seen so far is performed by Jaroslav Suska. Good pattern, keep working on it, it has great potential. Tae Kwon
@paulzac54815 жыл бұрын
There was no sine wave in ITF originally
@bretnicholls65333 жыл бұрын
Sinewave is supposed to be natural not exaggerated. This was just right IMHO. Everyone has their own opinion based on their training and influences. So long as there’s respect in discussions and critique we can all continue to learn and progress in our art. PS. Beautiful MoonMoo. Well done.

amazing pretty kicks sadly all in wrong height order... before the back kick ( which you are performing side kick) you need to be looking behind you at all times in moa sogi thrusting kick is middle section also hooking kick ( bandi dollyo goro chagi has to surpass the knee otherwise renders uuseless. what itf instructor do you train with and complete an after 4th dan IIC? I was lucky to have Grand Master Hwang Hyo yong
@SimonScher7 жыл бұрын
I was doing a demonstration. Higher kicks look cooler so I increased the height to show off strength, control, and flexibility. If you look at the encyclopedia. Back Kick in ITF TKD is actually a side kick to the Back direction. Not a toes down rear or donkey kick. I have trained under GM Park Jong Soo, and spent most of my time with Master Garry Dyals in tampa florida.
@TVTTaekwondo7 жыл бұрын
Simon Scher sadly you are miss informed ... well known fact the book is full of errors which have been later corrected especialy by head of technical ITF commity gm hwang ho yong
@SimonScher7 жыл бұрын
when you say technical errors, do you mean stating heights or techniques that are now prescribed differently? or explanations of sine wave, power generation and stance size and shape? because if it is just how and where strikes in a pattern should be thrown, which are made up by one person and can be changed by anyone, calling them errors seems sort of arbitrary don't you think?
@TVTTaekwondo7 жыл бұрын
Simon Scher where would you like me to begin for the pattern?
@SimonScher7 жыл бұрын
Where ever you want to. perhaps by stating the mistakes you believe are in the encyclopedia. Exempting of course grammatical, which are not a matter so much of content as editing.
@Anton_the_Vampire6 жыл бұрын
Fascinating to watch. I wouldn't presume to critique what you did, but it was certainly a different interpretation to others that I have seen.

Awesome work! keep it up. This is a very hard pattern and you totally nailed it. thanks for posting!
@mart4tkd10 жыл бұрын
While I admire your flexibility I feel that your positioning of most techniques is so far off the mark that it renders this pattern pointless. Calm down your desire to impress so much. Back kick foot position is a tad wrong too . I don't wish to slate this but you could be so much more if you just reign in the over zealous use of height in your kicks. Great for a demo on a made up pattern, but not for an ITF demonstration of Moon Moo. Good luck in the future with all your patterns. Tae Kwon.
@SimonScher10 жыл бұрын
considering this was for a demo and the pattern was moon moo which has a lot of high section kicks (defined by different itf organizations in different ways) I think I am well within my rights to assume that my opponent is Karim Abdul Jabar. I would have to disagree with some of your oppinions. But thank you for your input. Much appreciated.
@edawe8 жыл бұрын
+Simon Scher Hello Sir, A very impressive performance! Thank you for posting your performance. Regarding your comment about Karim Abdul Jabar being your opponent, technically, in the Encyclopedia, the definition of what constitutes a high or middle section kick is not based on the height of your opponent but on your own height. If you look in Volume 4 you will see High section reaches YOUR eye level, and mid section YOUR shoulder level. There are actually pictures showing where the kick would hit opponents of different heights. So a high section kick against Mr Jabar would probably strike his chest or solar plexus.

Beautiful form, sir! The twist kick, and slow hook kick look difficult...I never did this one. I was in ATA as a 1st degree when they switched from the ITF forms (Chong-ji, etc) to the Songahm forms...From what I remember this is one of the greatest forms from the traditional style

I wouldn't say the best Moon Moo by any means. He's got very nice leg control, but his hands need some work, he needs to put a little more power into his techniques, plus a bit more snap of the hip and some sin wave. It's better than most people can do but there's definitely some things to work on. His front snap kick needs more snap, and his back kick is up in the Clouds.

@jetsparrow31714 жыл бұрын
Sine wave is often overexaggerated these days. Less can be more. Microwaves can penetrate where other waves cannot. Do not discount micro sine waves in fighting, sparring, patterns or power demonstrations

Looks more like a poomse rather than an ITF tul with the lack of rythm and precision. He can hold his legs high for a long time thats it, he even holds them too high. Also alot of the palmok daebi makgis are not blocking with the palmok. Also its still named "Best moon moo ever which is simply not true. Jaroslav Suska though, he knows whats up
