TURN THE LIGHTS ON !!!! People complaining you can't see the lights. It was a NEW upgrade where you can have the light above and below the holds which make finding your foot holds super easy. Massive game changer !!!!

My gym has two moonboards side by side, it started with the 2019 and 2016, but recently they replaced the 2019 with the 2024. My thoughts on the 2024: - I live in the tropics and it's constantly 70-80% humidity even with the AC on. The friction dependent nature of the holds make it very difficult to climb. - Also because of friction, the holds degrade and become polished very quickly. - The holds tend to have "buckets", so chalk accummulates. Again, in 70% humidity this is never a good thing. - The gym doesn't "reset" the moonboard, so the holds never get cleaned. - The board doesn't have benchmarks below V4 (although it surely can) - this is a huge disadvantage for newcomers compared to the 2019. - Most importantly, people vote with their feet. The popularity of the 2016 has surged but the 2024 has stayed mostly empty.

For certain the best 2024 MoonBoard video on KZbin! Super insightful and fun to watch as always. It sounds like it maintains the essence of the MoonBoard while bringing some variety and key improvements! I’m glad to hear that it’s nicer on the fingers. I can’t wait to try it out! Hopefully sometime in 2024 I’ll get a chance to touch the 2024 board… maybe in Vegas, who knows 😆 Thanks for the vid, Miguel!

Interesting to hear. I’ll have to try it eventually to see what it feels like. Wonder if making the holds easier to hold is a good thing though since I have been bored climbing for a while to train the fingers and do love how sandbagged it is. I am also able to have sessions on the ‘19 & ‘16 that last 3 hours or so which is nice but any longer on nicer holds and I think I’d just burn myself out quicker on it

nothing against the climbers here, but everything about what they say is good about the new moonboard is actually a big negative for me. I use the moonboard as an alternate way of training my fingers from hangboarding and it seems like everything about the 2024 mb is the opposite of what I want to use the moonboard for. The slippery and fingery nature of the 2019 mb really helped me learn to pull through bad holds very quickly and translated well outdoors. seems like 2024 mb wouldn't be as good of a tool in that regard.

Very valid point. Also keep in mind that most climbers here were doing V4 to V6 that use a lot of the big blue holds. I'll ask Ravioli to set it straight for us in a future vid. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

​@@MiguelClimbs With the older mb, even in lower grades they would utilize the difficult holds but have good feet and progress by using worse foot hold with wider spans. If the 2024 mb v4-v6 aren't utilizing some of the more challenging holds, makes me think that there might be hold placement issues where challenging holds aren't able to be used in lower grades. Or that progressing simply means spanning these good blue holds which would again not align with those who wish to focus on finger training as opposed to dynamic coordination. Would definitely love to hear Ravioli's insight on this!

@@Jacob0481 Thought I was clear on what I wanted and not sure how that came off as complaining. I'm only basing this off of what I see, hear, and been told in the video and comments. I'm talking about mb as a tool for finger training and if the tool isn't as efficient as the other iteration of the moonboard to me that would make this a worse mb. think this is well worth a discussion since mb is meant to be used as a training tool and with each iteration it's attempting to improve on that very nature.

The moonboard might get you stronger due to its style of climbing but the kilter is so much more pleasant and fun to climb on in my opinion. Also not seeing the lights while climbing is so annoying on the moonboard

Yeah agreed. Having lights below the holds has always given me trouble. I haven't climbed on the Kilter as much, but I'm sure I'd like it! Thanks for the feedback!
