I finally broke out the big money and got the 100 Armega , only to be disappointed. The thick foam definitely reduced my vision, also pinches my nose. Been having to breath through my mouth. But the lenses and strap are top notch. Well I went to the Oakley Air break, omg they are night and day different. Better vision, lighter weight, and can breathe through my nose just fine.

The armega was my first goggle, super cool looks great, but I noticed the lens got wet alot when in extremely hot conditions, and also the peripheral vision sucks. I switch to the Vue and I'm enjoying it so far because of the view.

I have the 100% armega, and love them except for they do pinch my nose, could be my specific helmet (Arai) but I can't even use the nose guard, it makes it pinch even more.

I always wondered about crashing with those and you take a handlebar to the eye area, are those lenses going to pop off and not protect? I had a nasty get off with another rider slamming in to me and is side bar went to the face area, my helmet and Oakley goggles got demolished and really saved me. Maybe havocs would be okay, I don't know.

@@onthethrottle7104 I personally never crashed hard enough to know (thank god) but I’d feel pretty confident in them. The magnets are pretty tough, actually pinched my fingers a couple times putting the lenses on.
@mgk1397
@mgk1397 Жыл бұрын
@@onthethrottle7104 I was going to say the same thing. I don't think I could trust them. I had a crash on the sand dunes this summer and my 100% Stratas ate it as well as my helmet visor. Frame on the Strata is fairly soft and flexible, but the lens popped out after the Barkbusters on my bike punched the lens hard enough to crack it right next to my eye. Got off lucky with nothing more than a slice in my eyelid, quarter inch and I might've needed an eye patch. Crash was because I was following next to one of my riding buddies on some open dunes, 30-40 mph and he turned fairly sharply across my path not knowing I was there. I clipped his rear tire with my front trying to make the turn, forks locked and the bike did a front flip. At some point my head hit the handguard and broke it and my visor lens, cutting my eyelid. According to my riding buddies the lens was on the ground next to me I was just sitting there trying to get my helmet off, my visor was broken with the empty goggle frames hanging on one side of it. Also got a face full of sand. Several people stopped to make sure we were okay and offered a ride, always nice to see the kindness of people when you are in a bad spot.

Thank you @rmatvmc for these great videos. I'd like to see "the best roll-off goggles" review because it has been difficult to find good roll-off goggles. Airbrake might be good but poor antifog is not good for me. Leatt and many others seems to have pretty narrow vision behind roll-off system which I do not like and I'm not a fan of 100% armega roll-off system.

@@tonn333 A 'shield' helmet is the best for me, lots of peripheral and downward view window, but they don't look as good lol, and you have to deal with the shield, and more heat in the helmet. Lately I've been using an inexpensive an HJC HelmetMX2, with nose guard and CSG goggle. The helmet basically needs to be a deep cut at the side of goggle area and the goggles not have humungous side-frame structure, it needs to be pretty sparse.

What are the outriggers for?
@rmatvmc
@rmatvmc 9 ай бұрын
Outriggers help prevent the goggle strap from wanting to pull the frame of the goggle away/off the riders face. They help keep a tight seal between the goggle frame and riders face.

Are these goggles really better in any way than 20 buck raven goggles?
@rmatvmc

The main thing you'll notice is in lens clarity. The Raven's look like they have a traditional Lexan lens whereas the goggles shown in this video have pre curved injection molded lenses which will give you much more clarity and strength. Another thing you may notice is in the quality of the foam where higher end goggles will have more comfortable face foam.
