I just got into riding after many years. I got my Bell Moto 9S flex this summer and considered it light compared to what I used to run. haha. I guess when you dont know you dont know. I found it the safest, best fitting helmet for me. If 3 pounds is a huge deal I would probably get back on the pedal bike.
@rmatvmc5 күн бұрын
3lbs isn't a huge deal, but lighter weight is what most companies are going for these days. A heavier helmet doesn't make it any less safe, but a helmet over 3lbs is definitely noticeable compared to others that are 3lbs or less - Chase

I have a problem with my Klim F3 carbon pro. The liner covers up the rear 2 exhaust/vent holes at the back of the helmet 95%. Not much air is being vented from the 2 biggest vent holes. Either I have the wrong liner (just got the helmet today), or the liner needs to be redesigned for the Pro's Koro-crush-tubes.
@premix3663 Жыл бұрын
Japan makes quality products, Have always loved Shoei, i would say only thing i wish they did was make different color lining , they keep the same old grey insert which turns brown pretty quickly

I bought a Fly Formula CC from RM. I tried all the ones I could not afford and the Shoei was the most comfortable, kinda by far. These are all damned nice helmets, a couple with "clunky" fits for me, but I ended up with the Fly CC because the crash technology was most like the top one. No doubt, I feel solid and safe as you can be in the Formula, though I haven't given it a "good" test yet. Very light helmet to me, too

Klim: It is interesting that the green tubes that crush, crush only from the top. None start failing from the middle or the bottom. If the wall thickness is not thicker near the bottom, I have no idea how they control that crushing like that.
@EarthSurferUSA Жыл бұрын
Ohh sorry. 12:15
@dothetontim Жыл бұрын
It crushed like that in the demo because the tubes are welded to each other, and they were uniformly supported on the bottom sitting on a flat surface. They work together to avoid compression. They were met with a concentrated uneven force from above with the curved ball so all the force of the ball was concentrated on a small number of tubes upon impact which was then dispersed through the welded structure to neighbouring tubes and then to the flat surface below. It's not a simulation of a crash - it's a marketing demonstration and not representative of what would happen when you smash your head into a tree.
@EarthSurferUSA11 ай бұрын
@@dothetontim Very well said, I read it a few times. The tubes are connected together (welded I guess) all the way up their sides (guessing about 3/4" long), and I understand with your detail a bit better between that test/show (round ball on flat configuration), vs round head in round helmet. But since the tube structure is the same from top to bottom, does that explain why the crushing was only from top down? I can imagine with a head in a helmet after a head hitting crash, many of they can be laid/pushed over at the tops. Good reply man. Thanks. Doug in Michigan

Great review video as usual. I wish you mentioned the chin straps for each - Klim’s magnetic clasp is awesome compared to Bell’s double loop. Maybe next time 💪
@EarthSurferUSA11 ай бұрын
I just got the helmet. Unlatching it is easy, just tug a bit (very light tug), on the red flag. Latching it up with a tight chin strap that barely reaches is a trick, (which is why all the vids use a loose strap that we should not ride with. Hmmmmm). 2 hands don't fit in there. It took me about a 1/2hr total, with a tight enough strap, to figure out how to easily latch it up, with only my left hand. The end of the extra strap end is short enough to tuck all the way into the strap sleeve, so nothing flops around in the wind. Since I found a good method to latch it up, I timed myself. It is a snug helmet to get on and off, so there are a couple seconds there. But I timed, "Put the helmet on. Snap up the strap. Unsnap the strap. Take the helmet off." 12 seconds, first time.
