Maybe the bikes will lose the "image premium" and be valued as a bike, not a symbol.

If you’re bent on buying a Harley, then buy a used one from a private owner, Don’t support the corporate or anyone who is working with them by giving them your money. I don’t care how much they drop the prices. No T shirts, jackets or hats.. no nothing with their trademark name.

One of the smartest guys I know sold his two dealerships in 2006. Timing. Brilliant.

I bought a new one in 2019. My Fat Bob. I dont see myself buying another new one. They're just not building anything that excites me enough to get another one.

Autumn has always been a good time of year to buy a bike if you aren’t that worried about riding this year’s model in spring time as dealerships try to sell unsold stock and this year cash is king . New Harley’s sales might be down but I at the moment don’t see the second hand market prices going down and bikes over 5 years old have largely stopped depreciating as demand still outstrips supply in the UK.

Among those I hang around and ride with 7 people including myself planned on buying a new Harley in 1 or 2 years.Pretty much across the board that’s not going to happen with current MoCo leadership. I pretty much already had my 2016 street glide sold that I bought used 4 years ago for $2k more than I have in it. In my area used Harley’s seem to be bringing a premium at the moment. I’ve been kinda paying attention to the used market because a handful of people are looking for the last couple years of twin cam baggers with low miles. Bikes similar to my 13 but with more miles have been selling within $700 of what I paid for it like 6 years ago. Things may change, but that’s what it has looked like in my neck of the woods.

Most motorcycle riders really don’t ride enough to justify buying brand new. When I was younger I rode my bikes as much as 20000 miles a year. After the years of raising my kid and there was room in the budget for motorcycles again, I initially bought a used bike. But like many in the early 2000’s I traded and bought a new Harley. Life had changed a bit by then and I was in my 40’s. I spent gobs of money on exhausts and accessories and then traded for another bike, only to spend more money to make it like a I liked it. After buying four new bikes over a 8- 10 year period, really all I had was debt. I finally got myself out of that trap. Now I’m back in a used bike that really fits my budget and my riding needs. In many cases the used bikes already have to exhaust upgrades and accessories on them, but those upgrades do not add value to the bike. Let the new bike buyer take that hit and save yourself thousands. As you get older you will have many interests and the motorcycle may not be the number one interest. Why be stuck with a $500 a month payment for something that’s hardy used.

It's the time of year that I am thinking about Snowmobiles! I paid $4,500.00 for a 2008 Buell Ulysess with side cases and top case and 15,000 miles on it in 2022. I had to put new tires on it , better windscreen ..and I upgraded to a 3 larger bearing rear wheel for $700.00 It eats Harleys for lunch all day long with no Problem . Changed the engine and primary oil .. Lubed the cables and adjusted the clutch ..

HD sales have been falling anyways....unless you look at thr heavy iron. Just buy used as so many low mileage bikes around as owners sell their toys in this economy

I was at a local Harley dealership (we have two in town) and saw a 24’ Nightster 975 priced down to $10k! A brand new bike! I didn’t ask, but I imagine it’s a demo bike or something? But, it would still be brand new and have less than 500 miles on it. I didn’t price anything else because I wasn’t there for a new bike. I just couldn’t believe that price on a new 2024 rev max Harley Davidson! I literally thought about buying for a hot minute! I mean, I could pay for it outright at that price! I’m just happy with my FXLRS.

Harley has always been able to hold on to their high prices, its going to be interesting in the coming months if they can remain king with the bad economy and recent controversy.

My neighbor just set an appointment to buy a new Honda Fury and I may be able buy his used Fury. I think getting away from Harley-Davidson products might be the best long term decision..

Im looking at a used 2023 police bike from harley with 7000 miles asking $15900.(us) Used only for official use, parades funerals, not used for chasing motorists. I have a 2021 Sport glide for trade. Dealership is giving me $11000 (us). I just might go for it, I'm sure I'll be able to get the price down a bit.. If my payment stay the same $359.00(us) I will buy it..

You may get a good deal but right now you’re also getting really bad trade in value’s. I recently bought a 2024 Road Glide and talking to several dealerships and they said they aren’t suffering from the DEI but rather the economy and financing interest rates. They think the backlash is limited to people who already own a Harley and have no interest in buying new. Also Harley Finance has severely tightened up lending due to the high repo rate.

@alanbriggs7177 nobody buys R18,s, GS, RT,s, and 9rt are all to order, don't think I ever seen R18 on road in UK and seen only 2 in 10 day euro trip. Bollocks is a strong word. Breath and calm down Dave.

A new bike is always nice but Harley Davidson should no longer be supported regardless of low prices. New bikes also come with their own problems to be sorted out. Aggravating as Hell! HD not only abandoned their core customers but rubbed their antithetical policies and narrow views in our faces. They could not care less about you. Save a ton of money and buy in the pre-owned market from a private seller. If you're patient and regularly search the used bike market you can find an exceptional value in a used Harley-Davidson and save mucho $$$'s. If you're not bike savvy when it comes to buying a bike, with the seller's consent take the bike you're interested in buying to a local service shop (NOT Harley Davidson) and they can do an inspection of the bike for you. If seller doesn't allow you to have the bike inspected walk away. Last Fall, I purchased a 2003 Road King Classic from the original owner (deceased) whose brother sold it to me. Not only was this bike exceptionally well taken care of but I saved so much money buying this bike. All the bike needed was for the fluids to be changed, a new rear brake pad, that was it. Oh, and I did also replace both tires. But again, I felt like I had myself a virtually "new 20 year old bike." When it was all said and done I saved thousands of dollars and I haven't had any issues riding my Road King. It's a joy and a pleasure to ride and you can do the same.
