I made a similar one but it was a cardboard bridge going halfway across the bucket that was attached to the bucket and would drop under the weight of a mouse and come back up after. I put peanut butter along the bridge and some on the ramp leading up. Caught many mice with that thing and used it for more than a few seasons.

Mine has a tp core, with PB, on a string that goes across. They jump, it plunks them into the water. Last year I used a wire, but I doubt they're going to chew thru (no bait on it).

Build a little bridge. Peanutbutter at the start, make a trail and it'll lure them to the top. From there it's the point of no return for Jerry. Note: Those mfs can JUMP. Make sure you get a big bucket.
