I recently had a conversation with an actor who had a vomit scene in a recent Apple TV production, and he said there was a ‘vomit guy’ that came to set and had about a dozen different concoctions of varying colours and flavours and then they added chocolate sprinkles for texture. He held it in his mouth prior to “action” and then spent a few hours in a sound booth doing the sound effects.

We should team up, I used to be a nurse. People vomiting on me, all over themselves and surrounding area. Projectile vomiting is very alarming to witness or be in the line of fire. It wasn't pleasant but I know people get very distressed and embarrassed when they experience this event. I would always reassure them and care as best I could never showing my own reactions. The vomit scenes in that film Triangle of Sadness as far as I could ascertain seemed not just sea sickness because of the depictions of people using the toilets. I thought they had food poisoning, though explosive diarrhoea onset would not happen immediately after eating. Truly awful for anyone to experience. Complete loss of dignity. I thought the film was utter rubbish and only watched it as I am a Woody Harrelson fan.

'Emetophobe'. Nice word drop from Richard there. I was terribly emotophobic as a youngster. I would shake at the mere whiff of nausea. I ended up getting over it by just getting drunk a lot, and puking hard, such that I had effectively done exposure therapy under sedation. Now I can watch others puke, or puke myself without much reaction. A guy was standing across from me at a pub urinal the other week and just suddenly heaved a gutful up, mid slash. I just rolled my eyes at what an amateur he was.

Any Answers? Why do phone companies etc rush out the T&C's really, really fast (almost incoherently) at the end of TV & radio ads? They don't have/need to by law so considering how fast they say it etc it seems more or less performative. Any Answers?

On the exorcist, the reason they overapplied pressure was because the whole set was refrigerated. They wanted to be able to see the actors breath and back then the only way was was to chill the whole set. This made the vomit congeal, which meant they had to increase the pressure. Now a days we'd just CGI the breath in post. Maybe even the vomit.

Louis Theroux, one of the best practitioners of the journo’s art. As Janet Malcolm explained, “Every journalist who is not too stupid or too full of himself to notice what is going on knows that what he does is morally indefensible. He is a kind of confidence man, preying on people's vanity, ignorance or loneliness, gaining their trust and betraying them without remorse.”
@Cheeeesseee367817 күн бұрын
In a lovely link to this episode there's also an excellent 'scene' in Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends where he vomits and dribbles all over the shop. He visits the World Championship Wrestling company in the US. After upsetting one of the wrestlers, and boss of their training gym, they beast him during a very intense training session. If I remember correctly he (understandably) cannot keep up. He keeps up for a short time till he vomits, tries to escape by conceding then repeatedly shouting that he is a loser and a maggot. Then there's more vomit. He tries to run away. Gets caught and dragged back into the session. Vomits a bit more. Then sits on a puke filled bucket facing the wall like a Super Nanny punishment. Or something like that from what I recall. There is 100% Louis Theroux and vomit though😂

Louis Theroux may be the best in modern times, but he reminds me of some of Alan Whicker's programmes. Alan also managed to interview many unsavoury people and knew when to shut up and just listen whilst the subject talked ... you don't need a narrative of "this person is evil" and judgemental interviewing when the condemnation is coming out of the subject's own mouth.

QUESTION - Wouldn't the Traitors be more viral if we didn't know who the Traitors were? Surely the whole country would be debating (as stupidly as the Faithful) over who they think is & isn't a Traitor! The whole country would be gripped by this Whodunnit, even more than they are now! I'm sure it's a design decision but I think they're missing a trick. Obligatory - Love the show 🤭
