just a tip with wise, you can actually edge your conversion just before it rolls over to the lower rate. so eg. I would convert exactly $48.34 to JPY, which incurred $0.13 of fees. if I went over and converted $48.35, the fees went to $0.15. so that'll give you the best rate for conversion

Thanks for covering the coupons that Trust offers, something that many vloggers gloss over. Some of the coupons, like the KFC $2 discount with $10 spend is worth forgoing miles for because of its upsized value

Youtrip refused to refund my fraudulent transaction and refused to suspend my card for a replacement. Its outright ridiculous. Customer service is quick but completely patronising with useless templated replies. Cancelled it

Just some data to share on USD conversion for GXS debit card VS Trust bank credit card. I was charged 1 USD = 1.3551 SGD for Trust Bank CC, and charged 1 USD = 1.3553 SGD for GXS debit card. Since I was paying in USD to the merchant, Trust bank was slightly better. I think GXS uses Mastercard FX rate without any spread, so probably Mastercard FX rate is probably slightly worse when comes to USD.

If pairing amaze with uob lady, does it hve to be on travel category fr it to get 4mpd?

Depends on what you’re spending overseas. I chose Dining so overseas restaurants qualifies.

hey! did you compare across different days? iirc, trust pegs to visa's current day exchange rate (for the whole day), while youtrip/revolut/wise use real time exchange rates. so it's actually possible for trust to give better rates than the others on certain days. trust also gives 0.22% cashback in linkpoints, and its a credit card so technically safer + you get 1 more month's interest which could be net positive overall. also as a PSA, UOB lady's in japan is sus because a lot of food places do not code as food MCC. so we end up paying the 2.2% amaze markup and not getting the bonus 4mpd. using citi rewards behind amaze is much more consistent unless you are 100% sure about the MCC of a shop you are visiting. found this out the hard way when in japan :')

compared same day, timing difference only 1 min apart from each other. Agreed for uob lady's, happened to me once too haha.

Er, for youtrip right, better to bring the physical card when go overseas. I was in Japan this May, shopping at Loewe and they don’t accept Apple Pay. I visit few other shops where I was told they could only facilitate my payment with the physical card. Lucky I had the card with me.

But youtrip cannot be used for trains, buses and vending machines in Japan rite? So it is still a must to carry cash and then topup your suica card with cash.

If you get the revolut metal card, will you choose it over youtrip? I think in your previous video, it seems like revolut give you the best rates.

metal has a fee though. Yea in korea that really was the best haha. They differ only so slightly from each other to be honest I just use whatever I prefer.

Hi Demi, supporter of your channel here! keep up the great work :) i have some issues with the apple shortcuts setup. i have already made my changes in the Dictionary and Lists, they match the notion exactly, but this doesn't allow me to record my expenses. I noticed you didn't mention to change anything in the API URL, i haven't made any yet either, should i make the changes for this(e.g. link my workspace?)
