The emotion in this song always makes me tear up. Towards the end he sings with the gospel and yells out so freely with so much love and joy. Get's to me every time. He was such a lonely and misunderstood person. It breaks my heart thinking about it. I just wish people didn't see dollar signs when they looked at him and saw the human that just wanted to be loved and understood.

Absolutely. People talk about Thriller as his iconic album but I truly feel like “Dangerous” gets slept on. My mom had joined Columbia House and that was one of the albums I picked that we received on cassette tape, and I played the hell out of it. I was ten when it came out. So damn many amazing songs, even the lesser known singles like “Give In To Me”.

Its actually true about Michael being lonely. His lawyer said that he was always trying to find friends and always expecting his friends to be there for him until he finds out that his friends got away from him in his hardest times that he got so scared and paranoid from everyone and he couldn't trust anyone. His lawyer said that Michael used to call him at night and cry saying please don't let them pay you off and please don't leave me. I remember seeing it in this documentary kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXvcfmiJisaAps0 This is a 4 parts documentary that shows how people took advantage of Michael and how people and the media treated him like shit. I cried my eyes out seeing this documentary it just broke me how the world treated someone who has nothing but giving love like that:(

I love this song so much. Same with the movie Free Willy. It's why my favorite animals of all time are orcas, and Keiko is a huge (literally and figuratively speaking) influence in that. I was beyond devastated when I found out that Keiko died in Norway.

This movie and song bought to the surface the plight of whale captivity. The producers didn’t want “Willy” real name kekio to be abandoned back to a life on a pool. The moved her to the us, prepared her for realeased and eventually returned her to the ocean. Where she lived happy for a few years before passing away I think the doco is called Keil- her journey home - fabulous doco
@landibear650911 ай бұрын
Yeah, I watched it. Sad though that Keiko was so used to captivity that it took his life in the end because he was not used to being free. The movie did bring awareness though. Not just to whales in captivity but to whale hunting also. At least something good came from it.
@MNDHFilms11 ай бұрын
Keiko was a male. Not a female. And he did survive for a while but he was so used to people he would show up in fishing warfs and get free food and let people touch him. Genuinely the only real killer whale released from captivity into the wild was very friendly and loved people. But he died of pneumonia in December 2003.

This song is so meaningful to me. It got me through a time when I was DAMN CLOSE to losing my dad to COVID-19 (thankfully, I didn't). This song is used during the end credits of Free Willy and symbolizes my anxiety, fear and sadness at the thought of losing my dad, as well as my depression of losing my paternal grandfather (still dealing with it even after 13 years). I've even made it a request that this song be set to a montage of pictures of me, in the event of my passing.

The climax of the film and the climax of the song at 4:37, it’s simply perfection. A film and a song calling for love and freedom, a soul yearning for understanding being held and loved and lifted out of their pain… all so powerfully encapsulated in the film visuals and the song lyrics and melody. The joy of finally being set free and having others fight for you and smiling as you find that freedom. It simply nothing short of pure joy and heartwarming. The visuals and song match perfectly, even down to Michael’s “yeahhh!” 4:43 and Jesse’s celebratory smile on his face. You said it… there is a pure magic and wonder to this film and this song, so childlike and innocent yet never too saccharine or cheesy while also dealing with serious real world issues but never being too preachy or cynical. There’s a perfect balance of everything that can’t help but make you feel warm inside, maybe draw a tear and leave a wide smile on your face. Great reaction!

I don’t watch movies with animals coz they make me cry too much 😂) but I feel it has more on an impact when you see all the dancers and singers coming into the stage. Free Willy was so good! this song made that movie so much more beautiful! 9/11 destroyed that innocence of the 80's & the 90's. Everyone was so gentle to everyone for so long for like ever than the USA went through changes so much corruption and evil is being exposed! People are becoming a little more accepting and loving of other's! So I pray the USA is able to find that innocence we lost during 9/11 that existed in the 80's & 90's

This song will forever be associated with their captivity for me. It's a gorgeous, desperate song which very much relates to the plight of killer whale captivity. And the general captivity and abuse of wild animals (check out the CBS piece on the rescue of lions from the circus and poachers).
