I ride a Gen 3 MT09SP and couldn't be more happy with the bike. I rode the new MT09 and came away really impressed. As mentioned in the video, the CP3 motor is unchanged and just something else. The new bike is quieter (in spite of acoustic grills) and has less leg room, but everything else is a few percent improved. Turns more effortlessly, throttle 's slightly smoother, quick shifter slightly slicker plus changes with any throttle input, dash & switchgear is improved, I think the looks are better, the finish on the new bike looks a little more complete. Suspension felt a little hard compared to my SP, but very livable. Very comfortable seating position (slightly less than old bike if you are taller) and good seat. I highly recommend this bike. Hard to have more fun even at 30% higher price.

@@raluxgaza I don't tour on my bike, but I'm surprised how much wind protection the light & cowling provide. I think the helmet you have will affect the touring ability. I have a very aerodynamic & quiet helmet, so I comfortably travel at motor way speeds without ear plugs.

I have just acquired my SP model and it was well worth the wait. Last year I traded my R9T( fab but overpriced) in for a 2022 XSR900 in blue. A lovely bike and I liked it all apart from the dash and the seat hump. Plus it's the only bike I owned that people came up to me and said "That's a really nice looking bike". However in April I test rode the new MT-09 and liked it that much I ordered an SP which I finally received earlier this week. Superb piece of kit and if you can afford the extra don't hesitate. I have been riding for 60 years (before potholes and ignorant drivers) and riders today are lucky and spoilt for choice so enjoy and ride safe.

What's fun for one person isn't the same for others. Test this bike out first if you can. Most dealers around me, except for Harley dealerships , wont let you test ride their bikes. I rode a 2022 MT07 for about a year. Loved the bike but just wasn't that much fun as I expected or heard from testers on KZbin. I did trade it in on a 2023 ZX4RR. This bike tickles my fun spot. I'm not one that wheelies but I do enjoy tight curvy roads. The weight of these bikes are similar but I love the sound of the ZX4RR winding out. That's half the fun for me. The traction is so good. I can throttle out of curves sooner maybe not faster though. You have to be in the right gear.

For those who looking for naked bike, new MT09 for that price it’s best option (owner of MT09 2024) compare to my previous Suzuki GSX 8S this yamaha it’s great machine and great features cruise control big +++++ great quick shifter, great sound through this acoustic grills, great power this bike you can ride slow very comfortable 3-4-5 gears you can go smooth from 30mph-100+mph, I love my previous GSX 8S , but you paying little bit more and you can feel that difference for all 200%, but yes Yamaha MT09 and Yamaha MT10 look ugly for sure , but when you ride this machines they are beautiful, if you short on money this is your best choice, if money not a problem probably better go with something like Ducati streetfighter v2 (V4 it’s to much) or bmw s1000r ( pretty expensive too)

Different animal really. Th 8R is a fantastic bike, but the MT09 has lots of electronic toys and a better QS system. Plus the engine pulls your arms out of their sockets on the MT.

When you say the front end during acceleration can get squirrley. and how much fun it is in the same breath. for me that is why I didn't want to buy the bike. I want a front end that feels planted and glued to the road. that is why I like the Street Triple RS more and wouldn't buy the MT09. and I say that even though the 765 doesn't have the low end and midrange power of the MT09. when I test road the Mt09 I felt like a gust of wind could lift the front end and I'd end up riding into a tree. it's the opposite of confident inspiring to me. that is just my opinion. and you can have yours. I'm not saying it's a bad bike. it has a great engine and feels nice and light for a 900. but it just wasn't for me. currently I am riding a Ducati 939 Super Sport which I really like. but it's also not perfect. every bike has it's pluses and minuses. I'm also not really into high powered naked bikes. if I'm going faster speeds I want wind protection.

Interesting that you think that the MT09 is more appealing to younger riders, whereas the Triumph Street Triple is for mature riders. I chose the same bike you are reviewing ( in grey/cyan) because it is more comfortable than the Street Triple R. I found the Triumph riding position too extreme for long distances, whereas I can easily ride for a couple of hours on my MT 09 without stopping. Most of the people I see riding Street Triples are wearing full race leathers - a bit too full on and serious for me. By the way, I’m 70 next year, so definitely a mature rider.

can you speak about pillion seat comfort on these? and compared to tracer 9? bike sounds great but i have to take into account i'll take my partner around a big percentage of the time as well. i/we test rode the honda cb650r and she hated how small and hard the seat was, is this any better? any chance of the mt09 being enough or should i look for the tracer 9? i heard the tracer 9 windshield is awful because its just more buffeting than actual shielding, plus i like the mt09 looks better and i dont plan on highway miles at all. her weight is an absolutely collosal 49kg if it makes a difference. tia!

I didn't take a pillion on this bike, purely as my lady looked at the seat and said 'no thanks'. The Tracer 9 will be much more comfortable for a pillion. Wider seat, more leg room, but this is all fairly obvious stuff as the Tracer is a sports tourer and made for 2 up mile munching. Sadly I can't say how good or bad the MT09 will be at this task.

I have owned my Hornet getting on for a year and a half now and its still great fun but might trade it next year. Do you think this is much of a step up or much more fun as you said it compares with the 8s which is often classed as the Hornets closest rival?

The Hornet is actually a really good bike for the money. I see the MT09 as a good step up, better chassis and electronics. Engine wise, the Hornet's is so strong you might feel like there's not much in it. But just rev the MT09 out a bit and you realise where the extra is. Plus, the MT is silky smooth in comparison. I must have ridden a broken MT-09, people seem to say it’s a smooth engine but the 2024 one I test rode seemed to have a very jerky and juddery throttle response. I rode the Street Triple straight after an I much preferred it.

Just to let you know that Ducati has brought out the new multistrada V4 touring bike the same engine but with a bit more power and different twin exhaust also the price is closer to 17 thousand pounds without any options but the Ducati quick shift for the gears comes as standard on the new bike which it was an option before on the last bike you might be interested to test the new bike

The Suzuki GSX-S1000 has the same power from the engine as the Ducati panigale V2 but it only costs 11 thousand 800 pounds unlike the panigale V2 is a lot more expensive to buy so the Suzuki is a good buy considering the engine and the options on the bike and the Suzuki GSX-S 950 is built specifically for the those still on the A2 bike license which I don’t that one because of the engine power you might know about this one

You’re video was very interesting and I was surprised at the price of the MT09 but I was buying another bike it would be the BWM R12 ninety the two bikes are similar but the BMW has a bigger fuel tank and it’s a nicer looking bike and I think it’s worth the money having said that the Ducati monster with the upgraded exhaust is similar money and they both have quick shift options for the gears but the Ducati is a lighter weight bike than either of them if you had choose between what would you choose if you were going buy another bike

I'd rather have the 3rd generation quick shifter. When I wan't to pass on my ZX4RR I have to close the throttle to down shift so I loose a little momentum and that means a little more time to pass.

Imagine they put semi decent suspension on it, then it would be a decent motorcycle. Otherwise, it's an accountant driven cop out from Yamaha. Like almost all motorcycles from the big 4 with "budget" suspension, you take your chances, with your body on the line.
