Fyi the adhesive Mag Filter ring is MUCH easier to center if you turn the camera on so the lens extends to the first position. That allows you to feel the alignment very easily before pressing.

The adapters are also great for the older Rx100s as well. 52mm is a great thread size for old screw on teleconverters - lets you add telephoto to your m5 and older rx100s. Which is a nice "hack" those who would rather keep the sharper f1.8 rather than "upgrade" to the f2.8 of the newer models.

I use the MagFilter with the RX100m7, the Lensmate is likely more secure but I like how there is very little trace of the MagFilter when it is not mounted to the camera.

Great comparison, I have been comparing ND filters for my Sony RX100 VII and now I have made up my mind, I am definitely going to go with the Lensmate filters as I like how they baiscially screw/snap on and are more secure. The Magfilter I would worry about it falling off and losing it. Thanks!!!

This version specifically works on mark VI/VII. But the same company makes a version that fits the earlier models. The earlier models also have built in ND I think.

Does the RX100 vii have better auto focus than the a6400?
@CreativeTechLab5 жыл бұрын
Technically yes. The the RX100 vii has real time video eye tracking autofocus and the 6400 has face tracking. But they’re both really fast imo.
@thefowlyetti25 жыл бұрын
@@CreativeTechLab cool, your face went out of focus for a moment during the video, and i wonder if that would have happened with the rx100.. I decided to buy one over getting a 6400 so i want to justify it :)
@CreativeTechLab5 жыл бұрын
Lol. They’re both great cameras, just for different uses, but there’s no bad choice. In regards to the focus in this video, I’ve found that it’s better to turn off the face AF priority when doing these types of videos so that the camera knows you want to focus on what you hold up to the lens. And the RX100 is an awesome choice. Particularly if you’re not interested in having to switch out lenses. And it fits in your pocket, and can go places the a6400 can’t like concerts, sports games etc.

@CreativeTechLab4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. You would need to uninstall the lensmate adapter first. Lensmate does sell the adhesive separately if you choose to reinstall it. However, if you already have the Lensmate adapter on you're probably better off just sticking with it, it's far more stable than the Magfilter.

how do u get such good looking color in this video? Is it from a LuT or a filter on the camera?
@CreativeTechLab5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the compliment. It's a combination of both. In this room specifically I use Sony's HLG picture profile. Then I Final Cut I add some contrast, then apply Peter Mckinnon's orange and teal LUT, turn the intensity of the LUT down and then add some saturation. I also really like JR Alli's LUT pack as well. But in this specific room Peter's LUT goes really well with the blues in the background.

The only concern I have about attaching anything that puts weight on the front lens barrel section of this camera is that it could bend the axis of the light entering the lenses. The RX100 uses a telescopic lens barrel. It is not a fixed and sturdy barrel, but it can slightly "bend" with weight or pressure applied on the front barrel. This could cause a slight image distortion and out of focus at the top and the bottom of the image.

I've had an adapter on the VI for a few years now and it's never been an issue.
@hyphenphotography4 жыл бұрын
I've just got myself an RX100Va and so decisions, decisions. One thing I'm a bit concerned about though, before buying a filter adaptor is the possibility of it fouling on a tripod (Gorillapod) base plate. It looks like the increased diameter of the adaptor would mean a flush fit of the tripod base plate wouldn't be possible when screwed in to the bottom of the camera. Would you have any experience of this, please?
@CreativeTechLab4 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching. This was not an issue with any of the filters I was using (the Hoya and Gobe 52mm). The diameter of those two were flush with the RX lens. However I have used a Tiffen filter that's a little wider. But for the most part you should be fine.
