I have been lucky enough to have gone to this show twice. Both times were early 2000's. Hope to get there in 2026. Such a great show. The local SIM golf shop has the Golfzon SIM. Very cool. Top of the line. It does everything you showed. Thanks for giving us a glimpse into the show.

So much cool stuff that my wife won't let me buy. Thanks. I hate to say it but the only 'impulse purchase' I have made based on a PGA show booth was this shark looking club cleaner thingie that MrShortGame had in his video. I saw that and had to buy it. It was cheap enough to keep me out of serious trouble. Which is good since I spent some money on a new TM 4 Hybrid. I remember going to E3 when I was a writer for a simulation magazine and got to play with all of the new stuff and new games that, again, my wife wouldn't let me buy at home. I haven't done this with the golf world but I do remember going to E3 in the late 90s and early 2000s and seeing some of the games that were coming out and some of the tech that blew my mind away. It is a fun thing to attend. I'm glad you get to experience it as a golf journalist. You get a perspective that a lot of regular people don't get. As a former video game journalist I got the chance to do that so I can relate. You should have had Mere Mortal putter there. I have been very impressed by it. I have played two rounds with it; in 40 degree weather here in the PNW and have actually dropped about three shots just with improved putting. It is a really good rolling putter. I bought it to support you but it will stay in the bag for sure. I put a reverse taper grip on the putter since I am used to it and my speed control and overall line has been better than with any other putter I have tried. It is heavy and some won't like that but it seems to work for me.

Hi Gabe, the things available now are so different to when I started playing. Old beat up bag, half set of clubs, any golf balls you could find and yardage markers on the course if you could find them and not necessarily accurate. If at a high end club you could maybe buy a course planner book, good as long as you can identify different trees. 150 yards from the last Ash tree didn't always help . Now with everything available it's a totally different game.

Quite a guy, also he is autistic and is very verbal about it which is great to see someone with autism be so skilled and successful. I hope that came out right.

Gabe - regarding the AI launcher, did the suggestion work based on swing and performance of that swing? Meaning, let’s say the shot was what you wanted optimally, or was it saying you can do better?
@LetsPlayThru10 күн бұрын
From what I understood, this looks at your swing mechanics primarily. That said, I'm sure they could add shot performance data to the mix if they haven't already.

@nevvanclarke922510 күн бұрын
So a lot of that tech is AI driven stuff. I just think that's the wrong direction. I'm just gonna give my thoughts on this. What golf is about. It's not about the ball going into the hole. It's not about how many good shots you hit. It's the mates that you make along with it. It's the friendship that's the laughs ..... And honestly, all of this tech just drives us further away from what's really good about the game which is catching up with your mates and having a laugh. We need to look at the human side of golf better and I would urge the companies out there that are looking at this kind of thing as designing apps that maybe encourage people to meet up for golf and there's a challenge. I don't mind technology. I'm a professional photographer and seriously what's going on in photography has just blown my mind but too much tech drives us away from what we actually love about the game or the hobby.
@scottstorm776510 күн бұрын
I don’t see improving your game as counter to having fun with friends. Golf is definitely better when either you your mates hit amazing shots, so tech that might make that happen more often is cool.

So last week I'm 93 yards out. I would normally pull my 54º wedge. But I decided to try Bushnell's version of this tech which took wind, elements and my shot data into account. It suggested a 58º in the rangefinder, so I used it....I dunked it.

The wind functions being put into some of these range finders is pretty ridiculous. There are too many factors that come into play to ever make this accurate. Also wind affect varies greatly depending on the trajectory you play. I saw on Mr short game that one had a pop out sensor to read the wind lol. Nothing beats a $80 dollar rangefinder with slope off Amazon. Works just as accurate as the ones 5 times as much.
