I don't use my garage for my car but I made the same setup. Raised tracks for 350$ and bought wall mounted opener on special. Made a frame for my impact screen using electric tubing and it's hanging off the tracks (in front of the door) using heavy duty rubber bungees... this way I can lift it up when I need to work on car. rest is all DIY with old movie theaters... mevo is on back wall and it's perfect.. Cheap Epson business projector from costco, a couple of high speed USB cameras, a spare monitor and I got myself the perfect golf studio to practice and play.

Thanks for a great video. Does the hitting enclosure expose the frame work to ball ricochets? Some hitting bay makers line the frame with padding to prevent balls from impacting the frame work and bouncing around at high speed. Also, can you hit a lob wedge with the projector mounted so low? I like the idea for optimising the garage door but I‘m sure you could have saved money here by extending the rails so you can get higher and then mount the motor closer to the roof. This would probably mean you would have to extend the chain too so that when closing the doors it still closes fully but I‘m sure it would have worked. Thanks anyway for this video I‘m happy to try some ideas for myself!

Can you hit a regular tee on that mat that comes with it or do you have to use those cone plastic things? Is the "putting mat" that it comes with have any padding or is it just indoor outdoor carpeting? Thanks, ordering today.
@Golficity3 ай бұрын
The hitting mat is fairly deep so I have been able to get a tee in it but you can’t push it in too far. The cones may work better overall. The other mat is essentially like outdoor carpet. You can roll putts on it but it’s not ideal for that. For anything more serious I’d advise getting a separate putting mat.

@Golficity3 ай бұрын
Great questions...first you can sync the Rapsodo up with a TV (instead of a projector) The way I do it sometimes is to use airplay to mirror the image from my iPad to my smart TV. As for the sim golf, yes the Rapsodo comes with its own built-in simulation. Its pretty good but if you want something more robust you can pair the Rapsodo with a third party simulation software like E6 or Awesome Golf.

@Blackcloud3193 ай бұрын
@@JustMeAP1 I completely agree. 10’ or higher would be ideal. Unfortunately the house I bought was already built and unless requested for higher ceilings, most homes garage ceilings standards are set at 9.5ft. My neighbor who got me into golf a couple houses down had a custom poured foundation so his basement is 12ft in depth. He did that specifically so he can put his golf sim in his basement. Brilliant idea, he just had to pay more(for this custom foundation) when building his home obviously lol. I’m fine with 9.5ft ceilings as I’m only 6ft tall. Definitely cutting it close though lol.
@JustMeAP13 ай бұрын
@Blackcloud319 6 feet tall is too tall for a project at under 8.5 ft (as in this video), even with an iron. Only useful for chipping. Even 9.5 would be a problem if a taller friend ever wanted to come over. Good news: your backyard has a taller ceiling. Moreover, my backyard setup was HALF the price. Just saying. Your choice if you want to replace a $1,000 projector every time you use it.
@Blackcloud3193 ай бұрын
@@JustMeAP1 oh I don’t have a projector nor will ever get one. I just sync my iPad to a larger tv that sits to the side. I’m not very tech savvy so the projector and impact screen aren’t a very high priority for me lol. I concur that the backyard would be ideal, however, I’ve already hit balls through two hitting nets. Actually the last time I did that, the ball went into my wall in my garage lmao! I got a heavy duty hitting mat, it should last a bit longer than just a normal golf net. Also, in my garage I don’t have to worry about rain or any other weather like snow and such. My garage gets plenty warm with just a space heater during the colder months.
@JustMeAP13 ай бұрын
@@Blackcloud319 Before my cage, I also had a net that I hit into with no problems. But after the cage, I and others hit several shots that would've gone outside the net. A golf ball came AT my house this year. Cost my neighbor's insurance $6,000. I don't see how people hit through nets, but I hear of it happening all the time. Now, my cage has a double net AND the impact screen - which causes balls to fall straight down instead of often straight back past me (so it's huugely more than just for the projector). The other big advantage of the cage is allowing me to tee-up farther from the net (nearly ten feet instead of less than six). This gives the launch monitor much more time to read the ball's motion for more accurate readings. I live in Tucson. No colder months. Generally, I would not consider weather anyway. More to the outdoor point, IMHO, are Asian Tiger Misquitos that have invaded the South. lol "oh I don’t have a projector nor will ever get one. I’m not tech savvy so the projector and impact screen aren’t a very high priority." Trust me, the projector is VERY cool - but much better at night. It is still visible during the day. My huuge problem with this video is the lack of any discussion about how it's EASY it is to hit it installed over your head. THAT (again IMHO) is a bigger issue than not feeling "tech savy" about forgoing one. The biggest tech issues are keystoning - to get a sidewise light make a square image, and how you plan on casting your phone (not a simple issue with Android tablets). Both my S24U phone and MS tablet can use a USB-C to HDMI convertor (as done in this video) but no Android tablets would.

Videos like this have zero informational value, they just need to be entertaining enough to make money. Click his link in the description to PlayBetter for that setup, which features multiple pictures of him in his garage. He's just doing a promo and he may even have received it all for free... Typical of a sales video to only announce the price at the end. He didn't exactly "build" a home simulator either, he got one off the shelf, click bait. It ruins it for you when you start seeing through this and then wonder about the hole in one at the end, could well be some pre-recorded demo just to hype up some people who are easily persuaded and who needed that wee nudge to go and buy it. Not only but he doesn't add Amazon links in the description because he is a nice guy and wants to make it easy for anyone to find these exact products but because he'll earn a commission when people click and buy.
