Africa is not approximately the size of the US. The reason it looks that way is because of the scale distortion at the North and South of flat maps due to the map projection. You cannot even fit Asia into Africa, much less every single continent together. YOU should check the numbers. Africa is the 2nd largest continent after Asia. No amount of number fudging can change that.
