The og trainer (outwork) has been my go to for years. As stated they are pretty bomb proof. I have one pair going on 3.5 years that still looks and functions great. I also like the consistency. You don't have to worry about not liking the next version of the shoe (nano, metcon). Are they perfect no, but they are stable and do most everything inside the gym well. They may be bad for running but I have yet to find a shoe that I like lifting in that I would also want to run in.

I've been wearing zero to four mm drop minimus style shoes for about three years and just recently got some Asic gel nimbus 25s because I was curious about the more "comfort" oriented shoes on the market. They've instantly become a guilty pleasure of mine for running, some days at work, and casual days with lots of walking involved. With how focused I've been on minimalist shoes it's just nice to experience how comfortable max cushion shoes have came in recent years and now I don't think I'll ever not have something similar in rotation just to remind myself what true comfort from shoes feels like.

Do you have any similar guilty pleasure comfort shoes in your rotation? Just curious if you purely stick with minimalist shoes or if you switch it up occasionally.

The Nimbus is an awesome shoe. Picked up the 26 and it's my favorite max cushion running shoe!

I regularly rotate my shoes and I've filmed a video discussing that before, too! I think it's super normal to rotate models and it's often a good idea to do so as shoes are tools and we want to use the right tools for accomplishing the tasks at hand. The idea that you have to go "all in" on one type of footwear is silly and a lot of the ideals there are made up and opinion AKA the barefoot shoe folks who language you have to "only" wear barefoot shoes all of the time. That's typically their bias and that lacks layers of context. Different anatomies, background, use cases, etc. can all manipulate what will work best :)

I switched from low cushioned on clouds to NB 880’s and my feet went numb … I’m assuming my feet aren’t used to squish???

Hey Jake, Between the NoBull outwork/canvas trainer and GoRuck trainer which has the widest toe box? Currently Xero Dillion and Altra Escalante 3 fit me the best. Thanks amigo, Mike Also I would like to see you do some dedicated running shoe reviews.

Pretty similar toe box widths, but GORUCK can feel wider due to its upper having more volume! I have some shoes in the mix. I'm just slower with running shoes since I'm not going super crazy with my mileage each week - not to mention, I'm rehabbing my knees atm so I have to be strategic with the stressors I'm taking on - freakin' stinks, lol.

Go Free Metcon 6. OUTWORK is meh and feels cheap for the price. Granted, my FM6 broke after two workouts, so, fml, but I'd still take them over the OUTWORK, though Thank you and welcome!

Love your channel and knowledge. May be a silly request but I am looking for a black and gum color way. I don't CrossFit but I am a serious gym rat and walker on treadmills and normal. Can you recommend any in the black and gum color way that look good and are good for that usage? I was considering the outwork or the savage 1

STRIKE Haze, F-Lite (I have some on That Fit Friend Shop!), Savage 1, Outwork, TYR CXT-2 could all work for that colorway! I'd go with the option that best aligns with your training asks. The F-Lite will be the most versatile feeling, Savage 1 will be best for lifting, CXT-2/Haze are great for CF, and Outwork is meh and I'd pass on them, tbh.

I have the outwork and Impact hightop. Love them both. I am looking for a new model where I can ruck for 2-3 mile and then jump rope. Was thinking All Day. Any thoughts @thatfitfriend Thanks.

I've seen a few people wearing them at my gym. They look pretty sweet but I'm gonna have to pass. Unfortunately, I've been blessed with extra wide hobbit feet so I only have a few brands and models I can choose from - basically 4E from New Balance, Asics, Brooks, and a few XWide Nike shoes.

Yeah, NOBULL aren't my go-to pick for folks with wider feet. If you plan to grab one, though, your best bets will be the Outwork/Impact models

What would be your recommended all around cross trainer shoe for wide feet, good for lifting, HIIT, etc? I tried adidas and I thought they were still kinda narrow. I’m a 2E width.

To an extent, the trainers will feel pretty denser. The Impact will be your best bet for HIIT or using one of the runners!
