Great review, as always, Jake. Now, not meaning to hijack this comments section (🙄), but I'd really appreciate your input on a shoe decision I would like to make. It's between Inov8's F-Lite Fly G 295 and the F-Lite 260 V2. In short (ha, see what I did there 🤭), I am looking for a shoe for Hyrox. I have (and love) Inov8's F-Fly, but at the moment I am struggling with some achilles issues and so am looking at something with a bigger drop than the F-Fly's 4mm. Both these other options have an 8mm drop. But, key question, which of these options has the better grip in your view, in particular to help with the sled push. Or would you say that they are both similar, and both will suffice? Appreciate any thoughts you might have. Thanks in advance, Best. Simon.
@thatfitfriend12 сағат бұрын
Pass on the Fly G 295, their grip won't be it for the HYROX sled. The F-Lite 260 V2 could be the move, but if you're having Achilles issues then their density may actually be problematic. Do you find the F-Fly's drop to be more of an issue or their over ground feel? I'm also curious when it bothers you the most. Have you done any rehab/prehab work for it? Have you considered any other brands/models for this ask?
@simonpowell61279 сағат бұрын
Thanks Jake. I have looked into and am open to other brands but the information is a little overwhelming and focussed on runners rather than cross fitters. A lot of recommended shoes are not looking great for CrossFit. If you have any suggestions, I am all ears! The Achilles is worst in the morning. I am rehabbing with heel raises, hard roller/massage, etc and using a clay wrap overnight. It is improving but slowly. As for the F Fly, no real issues with that, just hearing a higher drop may be kinder for the Achilles. Was looking at higher drop Inov8 shoes cuz I love the fit of their shoes so much. But if you have other suggestions I’d be really grateful - btw I feel my Achilles is non-insertional, higher up the ankle and to the outside of the heel a bit, although the swelling is on the inside, oddly! Thanks so much for responding, best. Simon.

Plug and play, that's the name of the game. You may try a heeled shoe and not like it, and that's totally fine. As long as you're lifting well and efficiently, that's all that matters. Keep in mind, there will be an acclimation period when switching drops, so if it feels weird the first few sessions - that's also normal! Glad this video helped!

Probably I should have watched your video (and others) about Altra Lone Peak 8 before. Last week I ordered them and today did a first run on them. I expereince they are too wide for me in the front. My toes swim overthere. Alas in The Netherlands you can't try them out in a shop. Next week I'm going to Czechia and run in the hills, moisty terrain, can be quite slippery, and I understand these Lone Peaks can't manage that? Quite a disappointment this is. Sending back is merely impossible because I ran on them outisde. Maybe then just hike on them with thicker socks. But feels a bit like throwing away my money. I use to be a Vivobarefoot-fan, but for running in rocky hills they offer too little protection. Are there Altra or Topo trailshoes especially for narrow feet?
