Hope you have a good 2023 as well. Forbidden West probably was my fave as well but I haven’t played as much new stuff this year. It definitely was just comforting to play, the world exploration and how good the game looked made it a nice ray of light in a dodgy year. I’m usually very careful with money but this year to a even larger extent, with games taking a hit for sure. Work life balance was just bad this year albeit intentional from me trying to get as many hours as possible, that and family getting ill, and me getting ill, just a exhausting year. I did finally start and finish the Mass Effect trilogy (previous only played ME2). And now currently going through TW3 again with the new update. Want to say that your vids are something my brain does a little cheer at, when I see a notification for them.

I really appreciate the kind words, thank you so much. Despite everything, I really do still enjoy interacting and shooting the shit about gaming. Sometimes we really do just need that escape to let ourselves forget about real life for a while. Absolutely on the same page, work life balance has been a nightmare and the year has just been deeply unpleasant on so many levels. I wish you all the best for your health, and your family’s too! Hope you enjoyed Mass Effect! I adore the trilogy, probably my favourite series ever. Despite its faults, ME3 has some spectacular moments that take my breath away every time. Let's hope people switch their brains on at the next general election 🙂 Interesting choice of games for sure, I really liked Sommerville but the performance was abysmal as you say. I absolutely adore Forbidden West, so good choice there. Looking forward to your content this year and hope you find yourself more inclined to switch the record button on 🙂

Very much appreciated as always Rigged! I try my damnedest not to get too political but… well, you know. Not great, is it! Hopefully we’ll see a little improvement this year. I’ll take baby steps over nothing! Somerville really disappointed me. I’d been excited for it since the reveal but never could get past the performance unfortunately. Might give it a few months then try again, but Forbidden West was for sure my GOTY. I knew as soon as I played it that nothing would come close. I’m actually working on something right now! Got a good bit of work done on a new script but I need to record a TONNE of footage for it. Fingers crossed the productivity stays steady! Best wishes to you and yours too Rigged, Happy New Year!

Very interesting top five games of 2022 list, Jack. happy new year & yes, I did have a nice christmas thank you. one of the presents I got, was Gungrave: Gore for the PlayStation 4. despite very poor reviews, I'm really enjoying it so far. its alot of fun. sorry to know you have been feeling down, because of certain current situations. never give up, you seem a nice person & I love your videos. please take your time, making your next lot of videos. they will be worth it. :)

I’m looking forward to the releases this year, hopefully it’ll be a nice escape from a bit of a miserable reality as there’s a fair few things I’m tentatively excited for! Elden Ring got a ton of shit for its technical performance actually. It got away with it because it was the first open world game since Breath of the Wild that felt similarly fresh, absorbing and adventurous. I'd argue it tried a little too much and felt a little sloppy in its late game areas as a result. And while I still think the tight and rather short-ish Bloodborne remains From's magnum opus, I can certainly understand why Elden Ring's gotten all the adoration and accolades it did. As far as AAA development houses are concerned, the Japanese developer remains a unicorn. If developing games such as Elden Ring means less polish and visual splendor (more like technical splendor really. The art direction is a friggin' marvel) than you can expect from your typical Sony offering, then that's a price I'll gladly pay. Heck, I also love Signalis, and that's a PSone looking game that requires a PS5 or SeriesX if you want 60fps. In terms of optimisation it doesn't get much more shoddy than that.

Ah, apologies, I never saw anyone talking about the tech issues but I must have missed it. Happy to admit I was wrong in that regard! I totally understand why people love Elden Ring, especially if it’s their first From Soft game. It just didn’t click for me personally as much as their other stuff, but it’s by no means a bad game at all. I do like the visual aesthetic for sure, and the build variety was good fun! I didn’t know that about Signalis, that is a real shame. I played it on Series X thanks to Game Pass so never had problems, but it sucks that the tech performance isn’t great across all platforms.
