I use to speed a lot when I first started driving, youthful ignorance and all that. I am glad that I found these videos, and realized just how dangerous I was being. At any point I was seconds away from losing control and getting myself or others some serious injuries. I think these are good for all new drivers to watch. i’ve only been driving for 7 years, yet this is exactly why i ALWAYS pay attention to where the cars around me are as best as i can. i trust absolutely no one, especially on the road. thankfully i have yet to have a crash or scuff. many close calls, but none to where my car needed any repairs. i especially don’t go when the light is green until i am 100% certain that the opposite car(s) are stopped. to some people that might make me sound like an elderly driver, but i’d rather be alive and have a car than not.

The black vehicle didn't even slam on their brakes and they changed lanes going to same speed. The camera driver had plenty of time to slow down without hitting the car in front.

I'm a driving instructor and I've seen students sneeze and lose control to the point where they had to consciously make their feet find the pedals again. Which of course can make a student look away from the road and to their feet and/or the gear lever. So yeah, especially for inexperienced drivers without too much "muscle memory", it can certainly wreak havoc on their car control. Who knows, maybe this person just got their license a week earlier.

Experienced drivers should be able to maneuver and honk in most of these situations. But I agree there should be a judgment call if the person is not skilled enough to do both at the same time they should prioritize avoiding the collusion.

I feel like it has to do with the one foot for gas and brake too. I think it is one of the worst thing drivers ed teaches. The only cars that you should have one foot for gas and brake are manuals and even then you should still switch your feet around if your not heel toe downshifting. Maybe its just my race car driver brain but most cars have 2 pedals and most people have 2 feet. There's a reason race car drivers use both feet. It increase reaction time.

@@JohnDoe-gn3rg the reason you don’t want everyday drivers to be using both feet and constantly have one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas is for a couple reasons 1) there would be a lot more incidents of people accidentally hitting the gas when they meant to hit the break (saying if everyone tried switching to this strategy now and not grow up that way) 2) even having a slight pressure on the break can cause it to slightly engage the break pads on regular cars which would cause increase in break pad use and issues plus probably overheating the rotors. There is a big difference of race car driving and everyday driving and also distance driving. 3) race cars are built different than normal cars so they are designed to handle the issue from #2. Those are the reasons why I think it would be disaster if people started driving that way and I know some already do but trying to convert everyone I see more accidents happening rather than less.

@@Iamhungryforribeye yeah probably. I use both feet on the road but for the #2 I solve it by having my left foot near by and not it resting on the pedal. For me its more of a comfort thing because 1 foot takes a lot of energy in stop and go traffic.
