Asheville is in the heart of western North Carolina and the Blue Ridge Mountains. It's home to a vibrant art, craft brewery, and music scene. And you can't think about Asheville without thinking about the iconic Biltmore Estate (but more on that in our next video!). There are so many ways to explore Asheville, but join us as we take in the galleries and museums in Downtown and along the French Broad River in the River Arts District.
The River Arts District-known as RAD-is the city's creative hub. Formerly a warehouse and mills district, it is now the go-to place for colorful murals, art and artisan studios and galleries plus dining, nightlife, and music. If there is one thing you do in Asheville, make sure RAD is on your list! On the theme of art and artists, the South Slope Mural Trail is a great, free activity you can do with the whole family. Located near Downtown, Asheville, its an easy walk to see the public art that makes Asheville special. Its around a 2-mile trail and passes numerous studios and galleries, including the Lexington Glassworks.
Craft beer is a hallmark of a trip to Asheville and it doesn't take a lot to convince us to taste a few unique brews. This trip, we head to Hi-Wire Brewing Company's beer garden and check out dinner (and yes, drinks) at Wicked Weed Brewing.
Asheville is pretty dog friendly so Poppy joins us on our adventures. She didn't love Splashville--the city's free public splash pad and fountain located in Pack Square Park, but she enjoyed walking along French Broad River and Wicked Weed!

How amazing is the art scene in Asheville?! The River Arts District is such an amazing reuse of an aging industrial section of town and the South Slope Mural Trail really embraces public art in ways that other cities do not. We loved checking everything out and meeting the working artists. Oh, and don't worry, we didn't skip the Biltmore Estate. That video is coming next!
